Pros: Visually an awesome card, playability is limited but a nice option for strength.
Cons: Overrated, can be overpriced by some dealers.
The Bottom Line: Not a bad card to have in your deck if you want to give your Light Neopet and Hero a 2 Strength boost.

| Freak369's Full Review: Neopets Trading Card Game Battle for Meridell Holo... |
The Battle For Meridell Neopet Trading Card Game is an expansion pack that contains a total of 140 cards. In addition to the expansion deck you could also invest in theme decks for both Meridell [the good guys] and Darigan [the meanies]. What did this battle mean for Neopet fans that wanted more than what the basic deck offered? First it introduced some new species to the Neopet line up and it allowed for a little more freedom when picking your cards for battle. When I did have a duplicate of this card I traded it for a Darigan Citadel, Meridell's enemy in the online story at the Neopet website as well as the Trading Card Game.
Meridell Castle 16/140
Some people will want to get this card to play it in an event or tournament and some will want to buy it for a collection. There's no doubt that it is a visually impressive card but is it worth buying it from a dealer? This isn't exactly what I would consider a rare card. I purchased a total of three boxes of cards and ended up with seven of these cards; some were lost and some were traded and two of them were tucked away in a card protector to preserve them. The Holofoil is not slick and it will not scratch easily so you can play the card without worrying that it will get surface damage. Essentially, this will age at the same rate as your other cards.
Imagery: Meridell Castle on its own is an impressive sight. Tall white walls, colorful flags and crests that proudly display the red and blue colors. What makes this card nice is that it is a hologram, sorry, Holofoil. The entire card has a nice shimmer to it, the only areas that lack this adornment are the edges which are plain black. The card isn't thicker than others and when you look at it from the front, you can't tell that it is a special card. From a collectors standpoint this is an incredible card to get as a random card in a pack; a lot of people said that there was a way to feel the individual packs to see if you were getting one of the Holofoil cards but that is a complete joke. The cards weigh the same and are no thicker than regular cards.
Deck Series: Battle For Meridell
Promo Card: No
Strength: N/A
Agility: N/A
Magic: N/A
Intelligence: N/A
This is a Location card so it does not have the usual rankings for Strength, Agility, Magic or Intelligence. It is a Light card so you will need a Light Neopet to play this card during an event. Is this a great card to play? It can be if you are looking for a Strength boost but because this can only be played in the Strength arena it does limit its overall appeal in a heated battle with a seasoned vet.
Year Released: 2004
Series Number: 16/140
There are a number of Meridell Castle cards to collect; knowing the exact number of the card will improve your chances of collecting it as well as getting an accurate and fair price if you are considering buying it from a dealer or through a card trade. The fair market value for this card is roughly one dollar. You might find some people selling it for less than that but it might not be in mint condition. I have only played this card twice in an event and was extremely careful with it. Mine was classified as near mint condition by a card appraiser and I laughed at him when he offered me a quarter for it. This card should not be confused with "Storm The Castle" [55], "Castle Sanctuary" [68], "Castle Defender" [#2, another Holofoil, $3.00] or "Castle Secrets" [105].
Directions: In order to use this card in a tournament you need to have a Light Neopet in play; this card can only be played in the Strength arena and using it will give your Light Neopet and selected Hero +2 in strength.
Quote: "The castle's gates could withstand the force of a thousand men. An attack from the air, however, hadn't been anticipated"
If you want to see a clearer image of this card you can check out the listing for it at the Neopet website. The image does not show the Holofoil shimmer but you will get a clearer view of what the card has to offer in case you are thinking about buying it.

The Bottom Line
I am glad that I managed to tuck two of these away for safe keeping. Since I am a huge fan of Neopets and collect a lot of the merchandise I wanted to have at least two of these in mint condition. Even the ones that have been played are still in great shape and that says a lot about how the cards were made. They do not bend easily and if you take care of them and store them properly they will serve you well when it comes time to do battle.
As always, thanks for the visit
