Pros: Holofoil card, allows player to reroll dice, Location card.
Cons: Not much going on visually, limited to Earth Neopets.
The Bottom Line: Meridell Gardens, a nice place to visit but a bit too boring for me.

If you are looking for the polar opposite to "Darigan Gardens" then this is the card for you. It seems like a happy little place where innocent creatures roam freely and as the card says, it is such a peaceful place that it is easy to forget that there is a war going on. This is one of the 25 Holofoil cards that you can find randomly in the Battle For Meridell packs. What is a Holofoil? Think of it as a cousin to the hologram cards that would give you several different images when you would move the card from side to side, this doesnt have changing images but there is a shimmer to it and it gives most of the cards in the Holofoil portion of the deck a very nice look.

Imagery: Since this is a Holofoil card you arent going to be able to see the true beauty of the card by looking at it online. Even the best shots of it aren't going to show you what the card looks like when it is moved from side to side. Compared to other Holofoils in the series this is a little on the plain side because there really isnt a lot going on it in. Sure, it is colorful and a nice change from some of the dark and sinister cards but ultimately it needs a few pets roaming around, as it stands there are a few Buzzers [Petpets] flying around but other than that, it's just a lot of very colorful flowers.

So there's no stats for this card, no banking points and overall it's pretty innocent in regards to looks. So what's the draw to this card and why would someone want to play it? You get to reroll your dice once per content in the arena you play it in; this is something that you need to fine tune before the game starts though. Some players will say that you can reroll and void your first toss of the dice and others will say that you can roll again meaning to take another turn. I have always played this meaning that it can be used to void out a roll not as an additional turn. This could be something that could really screw up a game and cause people to walk away from an event. It is also something that new players might not know about and could lead to them getting taken advantage of.
Year Released: 2204
Series Number: 17/140
Location | Earth
Since this is a Holofoil the average selling price on it is in the fifty cent range but you can get it for less than that if you are willing to scout around online. If you are going to trade to get this I would sacrifice nothing more valuable than another Location card or possibly a Something Has Happened card. Any time Holofoil cards are involved people will try to scam you and make you think that they are more valuable than they actually are. If you are into them and collect them then you might be willing to pay a little more for them but since this is a pretty tame card the price on it isn't as high as some of the others like the "Silver Draik Egg" or "The Castle Defender".
Directions: The only requirement to play this card is that you have to have an Earth Neopet; if you start a contest using this card you can reroll your dice. Likewise, any player that uses this card to start a contest can reroll but it is only once per contest. This should be a very easy card to play but the directions listed by Neopets and Wizard of The Coast on the bottom of the card make it a little confusing. If you are going to play this in an event you might want to go over the rules with other players and see if you need to make any changes to the rules so that there isn't any bickering when the game starts.
Quote: "In a place so beautiful and serene, it's very easy to forget there's a war going on" It's true, Meridell is a peaceful place and even though there may be things like Turmaculus lurking around the town, it is still a nice place to take your pet. Since the image here is small and you cant click on it, here is the link to the Neopet listing for it.
http://images.neopets.com/tcg/c_meri/0017_HL02.gif. Please keep in mind, the actual card will look different than this because of the Holofoil overlay on it.
If you game at the site there are a lot of cool Meridell related items that you can get for your pet, NeoHome or to do battle with. Some of my personal favorites are the "Potion of Meridell Castle", "Standard Meridell Farmers Contract", "Meridellian Chocolate Milk Glass", "The History Of Meridell" and in the NC Mall you can get the super awesome "Regulation Meridellian Lance" and "Regulation Meridellian Knight Superpack". To visit the lovely land of Meridell, use this URl to magically transport you there: http://www.neopets.com/medieval/index.phtml. At the top of the page you will see a link for the "Darigan Citadel" in case Meridell proves to be a bit too boring for your taste.
The Bottom Line
This is a nice looking Holofoil but there are others that offer you a bit more in the area of detail. Since it is a Location card it lacks stats or banking points but that doesn't mean that it is totally useless when picking out cards for a deck. I really wish Neopets would make the directions on the cards a bit easier for newer players to understand or at the very least to remove wording that can be misconstrued or interpreted in several different ways.
As always, thanks for the visit
