Pros: Holofoil card, cute but deadly novas, potential to have a banked card discarded.
Cons: Moronic card action.
The Bottom Line: Even though I think this is one of the most ridiculous cards in regards to playability the artistic side of it is really impressive.

| Freak369's Full Review: Neopets Trading Card Game Battle for Meridell Holo... |
There are some cards in the Battle For Meridell TCG that are just not necessary. Sure, the Nova is an extremely popular item at the website but the creators and designers could have put a little more thought into this card in regards to how it is played. Even though I have several of these I have only used it one time during an event and I ended up winning the event but felt like a complete fool in the process. After that I vowed that I'd never use it again in a TCG game and I do cringe when I see someone tap this into a game. I'll get into why this is such a useless card later in the 'directions' part of the review.
Neopet TCG "Nova Storm" 19/140
Imagery: Even though I wont use this in an event it is a really nice card to have for a deck collection or if you are into Novas in general. First off it is a Holofoil so it has a nice shimmer to it when you move it back and forth. This is different from a hologram card that has different images that can only be seen when you tilt or move the card. This has a fixed image but the colors change slightly when you move it around. The bulk of the emphasis is on the yellow Novas that are shooting out of the castle; you don't know if it has anything to do with the Darigan clan but Kass is mentioned in the quote on the card so it is a safe bet that those cute Novas arent a good thing.

The only real perk to this card is the potential to remove a banked card from your opponent; there are no stats for it because it is a "Something Has Happened" card but you do need to have a Fire Neopet in order to tap this into an event. If you look at it from a neutral point of view being able to look through another players banked cards and yanking one that is three or five points sounds like a great plan until you realize what you have to do to decide whether or not the card gets tossed out of play or goes back into their bank. Some people will love the Holofoil aspect of this and treat it like it is a little more special than it really is; art wise it is nice but playing it in an event is unpredictable and you can't count on being able to successfully rob your opponent of their banked item and points.

Something Has Happened | Fire
Directions: You have to have a Fire pet in order to play this card. Look through your opponents banked cards and pick out one that you like / dislike and hold it above the playing table. Drop it and if it lands touching any of the other players cards and face down it gets discarded. If it doesnt touch any of the cards or it lands face up the player gets it back and can add it back to their banked cards. Honestly, this is one of the silliest and stupidest cards I have come across. It leaves everything up to pure chance and I really dread seeing someone play this in an event.
If you are thinking about buying this card or trading for it you should stick with the "Something Has Happened" cards for a trade, the "Feeding Mr. Scary" is a good pick. I have seen this card selling for as much as two dollars and I really hope that is because of the artwork and not the playability of it. I have a few of these and dont really have a desire to get more of them but if I were looking to buy it outright I wouldnt pay more than .75 cents for it if it was in mint condition. That's just me though, if you are a Nova fan you might be willing to pay more for it but know your cards so you dont get ripped off or sold another Nova card instead of this specific one.
Quote: "The survivors breathed a sigh of relief, Kass was finally out of tricks. And then the sky rained fire". Even though I think Novas are extremely cute with their big bug eyes the ones on this card have a more sinister mission and have been dispatched by Lord Kass to destroy anything in their path. It's a nice tie in to the theme and game and a bit of hidden advice, never underestimate your opponent because when you do they are going to spring a trap on you.
If you are a Neopet gamer there are a ton of Nova related items that you can get at the site. Who can forget the prank TNT played with the advent calendar a few years ago where they gave out a Nova item then had it stolen. Some of the cooler items include the "Christmas Nova", "Chocolate Swirl Nova", "Strawberry Nova Waffle", "Supernova Candy", "Ultranova", "Scroll of Dark Nova" and "Pencil of Nova". All of the various Nova Pops are utterly adorable and if you are into darker thing you can always go with a Dark Nova theme. Some of my favorite Dark Nova items include the "Dark Nova Sponge Cake", "Rod Of Dark Nova Stamp", "Dark Nova Fruit" and "Dark Nova Pop".
The Bottom Line
As a whole this is a hard card to peg because of how it is played in an event. It leaves nothing up to planning, its all luck. I have heard of players trying to weight a card a certain way so that it will land face down but that seems like a lot of work to go through just to get something discarded from a game not to mention if you are caught cheating word spreads like wildfire and no one will want to do a TCG with you. I have a few of these cards but don't play them; I'm more than content just having them in decks with other awesome Nova themed cards like the "Dark Nova", "Nova Fruit, "Nova" and "Wand of Nova". The artwork on the card is top notch and gives you the cuteness of the Nova and the darkness of the castle in the background. I really wish they would have picked a different way to play this card in an event because as it stands it's just silly.
The image here isn't that great so if you want to get a little better look at it you can check out the Battle For Meridell TCG deck at the website or just cut and paste this link into your browser window:
