| Freak369's Full Review: Neopets Trading Card Game Battle for Meridell Rare... |
The Neopet Trading Card Game is still around and it seems like every six or seven months they release some type of expansion deck or new theme. I was lucky enough to collect all of the cards in the Battle For Meridell series and have plenty left over to use when I played the TCG. Sadly, there are a lot of people that misrepresent the value of the cards or list them incorrectly; this leads to a lot of new or younger players getting ripped off. This isn't exactly a rare card, from the three boxes that I purchased I ended up with three of them. Two were added to my deck collection and one was used for actual game play. When I started collecting the cards I wanted to complete a deck and sell it. After looking at what I spent on the boxes and what the completed decks were selling for I came to the conclusion that the cards would have to sit for a long, long time to pay off let alone make a profit.
Neopet TCG 34/140: Book of Law
Imagery: The Book of Law is adorned with the Darigan crest and shield in its usual dark purple color. What's really appealing about the imagery of the card is the background; its the castle but it's slightly blurred as to not take away from the image of the book. If you view the card at the website the colors are a little off; the pages on the card are a light red, not a dark red. The detail that went into drawing the book is above average, I like the gold riveted corner protectors the most. The spine of the book is done up the same way so if this were a real world item, you do get the impression that it would be a huge and heavy thing to have to lug around. The Book of Law is what dictates the rules that Kass has set forth, anyone that is found in violation of them suffers a most horrible fate.
Deck Series: Battle For Meridell
Promo Card: No
How many of these should you have? Well, you only really need to have one of them in your deck at any given time; that's more than enough to really throw a curve at players who think that they have the game won. While you do not get to pick the cards that others have to remove from their decks, it does force them to make some hard judgment calls. They are going to have to look at where the game is in regards to the four arenas and how others are playing their cards. Do they have to show you the cards that they are getting rid of? No but if they do happen to show you, all the better. You can get a sample of the cards that they have picked out for the event and possibly a taste of their game plan. These are things that need to be figured out at the beginning of the game; rules are important so everyone knows what is expected of them and how certain cards will be played.

Directions: If you have a Dark Neopet then you can play this card in an event. If you are lucky enough to bank this [it is worth one banking point] every other player has to discard two of their cards. They do get to choose which ones are tossed out of their deck. Some people will lay down different rules at the beginning of the game stating that in the event that a "discard card" is played, the person playing the card gets to choose which cards are pulled from the decks. This adds a slight twist to the game but if rules like this are going to be used, they need to be stated before the competition starts so everyone knows what is going on.

How much is this card worth? It all depends on if you are collecting it to complete a deck or if you want it for game play. This is selling for about twenty cents in mint condition. It is not a Holofoil and is something that you stand a good chance of getting if you buy four or more packs of cards. For game play this is a nice card if you want to end a game quickly; if your opponents only have a few cards left, you can play the card [providing that you have a Dark Neopet] and on your next turn go for the kill. If you know that another player has this card you may want to start banking high item things so you aren't forced to choose things from your deck if it is played.
Even though the listing here at Epinions shows this as a "rare" card, it isn't. Chances are this was fed in from another site where it is listed as rate because of the date it was originally released or their mark up price on it. If you pay for than a quarter for this in mint condition, you are getting spanked.
As always, thanks for the visit
