| Freak369's Full Review: Neopets Trading Card Game Battle for Meridell Rare... |
If you are into the Neopets website and collect the virtual cards then you will be more than familiar with Jeran; the brave Lupe that protects Meridell from the meanies of Neopia, Meridell and beyond. What you might not know is that his little sister is none other than Lisha. Jeran is a Lupe so he is brave, strong and loyal; even at a young age he showed that he was dedicated to the cause of trumping evil. I've never been into the Lupe species but I did have one of my pets zapped by the Lab Ray and it's currently a Shadow Lupe [vVv_Vixxxen_vVv]. If you collect plushies at the site or any of the other plushie TCG cards this is a nice one to get. In the card of this card the stats and banking greatly outweigh the overall art of the card. I hate saying that because almost all of the cards in the Battle For Meridell deck are stellar but this one is a little on the boring side.
Neopet TCG "Jeran Plushie" 47/140
Imagery: You sort of get the feeling that this plushie has been locked up somewhere in the castle. The dark background of the scene only has one small block or red and blue to it, the rest is gray, until you see the card in person you cant make out what it is but it's a Meridell banner. There is a toy sward against the wall, at least you have to assume that it is a toy sword. The plushie is cute but it isn't smiling or showing any emotion; it looks like a younger version of Jeran but has all the same facial features that you would expect. Compared to the other plushie card in the Battle For Meridell deck ["King Skarl Plushie", "Kacheek Plushie", "Mynci Plushie", "Shoyru Plushie"], this one is average but nothing to flip over.
Deck Series: Battle For Meridell
Promo Card: No
Strength: +2
Agility: +2
Magic: N/A
Intelligence: N/A
The biggest draw to this card is the +2 for banking it; that can be a nice little boost mid game but any time you can boost you other characters stats at the same time, well, it's doubly good. This is an easy card to play but I did get some pointers from more experienced players at TCG events on when it is best to use this and where to have it in your deck. This is a bit better to play than the "King Skarl Plushie" card because that one will only get you a +1 for other plushie cards in your deck. You still get the +2 for the bank but the +1 for stats makes it something to play when you are stalling for a better position to play another card. If you are building a plushie deck then this is a must have card to collect. By Neopets classifications this is a 'rare' or "R" card; I managed to get three of them from buying boxes and packs so to me it isn't something that I could consider hard to get from random packs. It's because of that "R" rating that you are going to come across some not-so-honest resellers and card dealers that are going to try to rake you over the coals. The average price for this is .25 to .35 cents so don't be fooled into paying more for it.
Year Released: 2004
Series Number: 47/140
Item | Plushie
Directions: This is a pretty straight forward card to use; bank it and you will get two points towards your total goal of twenty one as well as a +2 for all the stats of your other Hero cards in play. That is a nice way to sneak in a stat increase without alerting others to your master plan. Not only does the card look nice but it is a great card to play at the beginning or middle of an event or when your Heroes need a slight stat boost. The downside is that this won't do anything for your Agility or Magic but it will help the other Hero characters that you have active.
Quote: "'They're here Jeran! Please help. They'll break through the door any minute!' Jeran sat motionless" Only a Jeran plushie would ignore the request for help. Being a loyal warrior to Meridell he has fought off Lord Kass and the Darigan Citadel. I can't help but feel that this card was added as a filler; there were so many things that they could have done with the card in regards to the artwork and quote but I guess they decided to try and keep things simple with this plushie card.
If you game at the Neopet website and think that the Jeran [or Lupe's for that matter] is the best, there are some very cool items that you can pick up in shops or by scouring the Shop Wizard. Some of my top picks are the "Giant Jeran Plushie", "Jeran Play Set", "Jeran Usuki Set", "Jeran My Hero" and "Chocolate Jeran". You can also collect several virtual cards at the site to be placed in your TCG album or traded for other cards. Some of the best ones are "Jeran, Meridell Knight", "The Legend of Jeran" and "Jeran's Armour". If you are into collecting the Neopet products be sure to look for the discontinued Jeran Knight puzzle from Milton Bradley.
To get a better look at this card and see the nifty partial Meridell banner and hangs on the wall behind the plushie you can check your TCG deck checklist at the website or cut and paste this URL into your browser window:

The Bottom Line
If plushies are your thing then this is a nice card to collect. The same can be said if you are a fan of the Lupe species or Jeran. While the artwork isnt all that exciting the card does have some weight if you play the TCG. Even if all you bank are plushie cards all you need to eleven of them to win the game; you can always use other banking item cards for a quick boost to the top but even if all you bank are plushies it isn't impossible to win an event with them. Other Jeran cards in the Battle For Meridell deck and other themes have a lot more color and appeal to them but if you are a fan of the Lupe you won't turn this card down if it happens to come your way. If you are trading for it accept nothing less than another +2 item or another plushie card that has equal or better stats.
As always, thanks for the visit
