| Freak369's Full Review: Neopets Trading Card Game Battle for Meridell Rare... |
If you play at the Neopet website you know how popular the Draik species is. Everyone tries to get an egg to hatch and if you have one on your user lookup you dont dare zap it with the Lab Ray. When it comes to the Neopet TCG cards there are a lot of interesting Draik cards to choose from; regardless of whether you collect them for the artwork, because you are a Draik fan or to play in contests, there is a lot of variety to them. Sadly this card is one of the most boring in regards to what it offers you visually but it does make up for it when it comes to banking. A 3 is an awesome card to have in your deck and to try to get multiples of. Even though this is a little on the plain side it is a card that I am always on the look out for at toy and comic book conventions, if the price is right I'll buy as many as I can get my freaky little fingers on.
Neopet TCG "Yellow Draik Egg" 58/140
Imagery: I was a little disappointed at the artwork on this card; sure, it is a basic Draik egg that hasnt started showing any signs of hatching yes but they could have done something with the background or at the very least added something like a Draik claw to the scene. There is a lot of depth to the color of the egg but even the background is boring. This is not a Holofoil card as some websites claim it to be; according to Neopets classifications this is a 'rare' card meaning that it won't surface all that often when you are buying boxes or packs of cards. From the ones that I have purchased [packs and boxes] I have collected three of them which really isnt enough for me. Because this is such a great banking card it is something that can be played at any point in the game. Some will say that its best to play it as soon as possible but I dont think that you necessarily need to play it within the first few rounds.
Deck Series: Battle For Meridell
Promo Card: No
Strength: 3
Agility: N/A
Magic: N/A
Intelligence: N/A
By Neopet classifications this is a 'rare' card; all that means if that you have less of a chance of getting it if you buy boxes or packs of cards; from the ones that I have purchased I have managed to get three of these. The odd thing is that cards that are classified as 'common' can surface less often than the cards that are considered 'rare'. A good example of that is the Red Meerca; it is a common card but it seems extremely hard to get multiples of it. If you were looking to buy this, the average selling price for a mint card is anywhere from .60 to .75 cents but that is only if it is in mint condition. Most people will try to get this for the banking points because as I said, the artwork isnt anything to get all that thrilled about.

Another great card to collect in the Battle For Meridell deck is the "Golden Negg", that has a 5 for banking and so far it is the only Negg related item card that I have seen that has had a 5. Also found in this deck is the "Silver Draik Egg" [20/140] but that will only get you 1 for banking and 2 for Agility. The artwork on that card is a little more interesting than the "Yellow Draik Egg" but the points are lower so it is a trade off. Another good one to be on the look out for is the "Faerie Pancakes" [113/234] from the first expansion deck That too is a food item card with 3 for banking. One thing that is consistent about all the food item cards is that they are interesting and have a strong tie in to what the website has to offer.
Directions: This isn't a card that I would suggest using if you are so far behind in points that you dont think you have a chance of catching up. You need to have a Fire Neopet active then after banking the card you can go into your deck and remove a Draik card to be placed on top of the deck after you have shuffled it. What's the advantage of that? It's two fold really; it shows the other players some of your deck power and lets them know what you might possibly play the next round. All that really isnt the focal point of the card, banking the three glorious points is.
Quote: "So that's where Draiks come from!". If you want to get a Draik at the website you have two choices, buy a morphing potion or try to buy an egg. Both of these options are expensive and it will take you a long time to save up the NP needed to buy one. If you are buying one through the Trading Post make sure you are not going to get ripped off in the process. There is a third way, adopting one at the pound but I have never seen one put there by anyone in the years that I have been playing at the site.
To get a better look at this card you can visit your TCG album at the Neopet website or just cut and paste this URL into your browser window:

Draiks are one of the most sought after pets at the website; they also have some very cool items that you can buy or trade for. Some of the best include "Mint Chocolate Draik", "Draik Archer Boots", "Draik Guard Stamp", "Draik Legends", "Strawberry Draik Biscuit", "Red Draik Play Set" and "Popular Draik Names". Some of the cool Draik themed virtual cards include "Tainted Draik", "Draik Sentinel", "Draik Blacksmith", "Silver Draik Egg" and "Draik Skeleton".
The Bottom Line
There may be a lot of cards that look better than this one but the three points you get from banking it mean more in a competition than how it looks. As far as durability; all of the cards in the Neopet TCG series are well made and will last a long time if you store them properly. Even the coveted Holofoil cards withstand scratches and marring when played heavily. The average selling price per pack ranges between two to three dollars [more in some cases] depending on the deck you are working on collecting. Almost all of the cards can be purchased individually online or at card stores but you really do need to do your homework on prices and the true rarity index of them before you start shopping.
As always, thanks for the visit
