| Freak369's Full Review: Neopets Trading Card Game Battle for Meridell Unco... |
Regardless of whether you collect the Neopet TCG cards for their artwork or to play in events, this card is great no matter how you judge it. Listed as an uncommon card by the Neopet site rankings, it is a card that is well worth hunting down. The image here does not do it justice so I have included a link at the end of the review so you can view it in a larger scale and the colors will be a bit more authentic as to what they look like on an actual TCG card. The Blumaroo species is a curious one; part kangaroo and part something else [we aren't sure exactly what the 'blum' is for], it has floppy ears, is usually in a great mood and spends most of its time hopping around or hosting a game of Dice-A-Roo.

Imagery: Being a fan of the Blumaroo I fell in love with this card the first time I saw it. Even though this Blumaroo isn't blue, he is still extremely cute. Being a squire he has to do all the crappy jobs that no one else wants to, after all, that is how you become a brave knight. He is shown carrying a lot of the weapons that you see at the website and can use in the Battledome but the most notable is the Meridell shield that he is handing to a knight. There is a lot of color and detail to the card and that makes it a great pick for collectors but at the same time if you choose to use this in a TCG event the stats for it are equally impressive.
Deck Series: Battle For Meridell
Promo Card: No
Strength: +9
Agility: +10
Magic: +2
Intelligence: +8
It wasn't a big surprise that this had higher than average stats for Intelligence because the species is, in general, pretty slick. The low magic is more than made up with the +10 in Agility and when played in a contest where you have a nice lead it can help you with future turns as you get to pull and top-stack an Equipment card in your deck. This isn't a hard card to play so if you are just starting out with the TCG you won't have any problems using this in an event.
Year Released: 2004

One of the unfortunate downsides of a card that is classified as "uncommon" is that newer players and collectors think that they have to pay an arm and a leg for them and that just isn't the case. You can get this card in packs or boxes and from the ones that I have purchased, I have managed to get four of them. This is a great card if you are building a Blumaroo themed deck or want something with high Agility but there is no way that this card is worth more them .40 cents in mint condition. Any site that says it is "ultra rare" or claims that it is a Holofoil is flat out lying or they have no clue what they are selling.
Directions: This is a nice card to play when you have a lead in a game and you are close to meeting the 21 points needed to win the event. When you win a contest playing with this card instead of banking or pulling another card you can search your deck for an Equipment card and put it at the top of your deck. The advantage is that you have pulled up a potentially useful card that can be played in short order but I'd only use this when you had a sufficient lead in the game or a specific arena.
Quote: "He would be riding up there one day. He just hoped it was sooner rather than later" Everyone has to pay their dues and this squire is no exception. Even though he is loaded up with equipment and probably doesn't get the recognition that he deserves, he never gives up on his dream of being a knight.
If you are into collecting the TCG cards, the "Blumaroo Squire" is another great looking card to try and collect but you can't go wrong with the basic ones like the "Green Blumaroo", "Yellow Blumaroo", "Red Blumaroo" and "Blue Blumaroo". Fans of the species that game at the website would love to get their hands on some of the rarer Blumaroo items like the "Vanilla Blumaroo Biscuit", "Dark Chocolate Blumaroo", "Blumaroo Ear Guards", "Sitting Snow Blumaroo", "Blumaroo Day Pizza" and any of the "Blumaroo Plushies".
The Bottom Line
Visually this is a great card, even more so if you are a fan of the Blumaroo. Stat wise it is a strong card but since there is no banking involved you may want to reserve it for times when you know you are going to have a point advantage over other players. I am really happy that I managed to find four of these; as the prices drop on the individual packs from various theme decks I am hoping to build a completely Blumaroo related deck but that is going to take a lot of time and cashola.
