Pros: Fantastic artwork, 14 for stats, losing allows you to move to another arena.
Cons: Listed as an 'uncommon' card so be leery of card dealers that try to scam.
The Bottom Line: Fans of the Blumaroo species will love this card!

| Freak369's Full Review: Neopets Trading Card Game Battle for Meridell Unco... |
When I started collecting the Battle For Meridell cards I knew that I wanted to get as many multiples of Count Boris as I could. It is listed as an 'uncommon' or "U" card by Neopets classifications and this time I do have to agree with the listing. From the boxes and packs that I have purchased I have only been able to get two of these. Maybe it is the artwork, maybe it is the 14 for stats, maybe it's just the playful tone of the Blumaroo but I just love this card. Regardless of whether you collect these to look at, trade or use in TCG events, all of the cards are well made, hold up well when being handled and have some great tie ins to the Neopet website.
Neopet TCG "Count Boris" 69/140
Imagery: I have a soft spot for Blumaroos but even if I didn't I would still love the look of this card. Sure, it's a blood sucking vampire Blumaroo but that cute little squishy pink nose and the little widows peak on his forehead make him way too cute to classify as a meanie of Neopia. One odd thing is he is dressed in a business suit but he does have a rather tattered looking cape so I guess that cancels things out. Until you see this card in person you cant really appreciate the little details like the pink on the ends of his ears, the fact that he is bouncing on his tail and the single fang that is shown. I have to assume that there is another one and that its just out of sight.
Deck Series: Battle For Meridell
Promo Card: No
Strength: 14
Agility: 14
Magic: 14
Intelligence: 14
The first time I saw the stats on this card I had to do a double take. I had never seen anything higher than a 5 or 6 so this was a real eye opener. I had no idea when it was best to play this card but I did get some helpful hints and pointers from more experienced players when I would take the brood to the TCG events. This is not a hard card to work into your deck but picking out the best time to use it can be a little tricky. If you have it in your deck you might be tempted to use it as soon as the game starts but that could work against you in the long run because other players will be reluctant to use their good cards thinking that there is no way to catch up or win the event. Even so, you still need to reach twenty one points total in your item bank and this card does not help you in that mission. It's great for boosting stats if you can manage to work it into the game plan but dont forget that you still need to his the magic number of twenty one.
Year Released: 2004
Series Number: 69/140
Hero | Blumaroo | Air Dark
Since this is classified as an uncommon card you may pay a little more for it than a common card but not as much as a Holofoil. When I started looking locally to get a few more of these to complete decks I almost fell over. One store wanted a dollar a piece for them and the online sites that sell the individual ones weren't much better. Auction sites like eBay have the average price at about .30 cents. For that I am expecting something that is mint with no scratching and that is something that the sellers don't disclose so you are stuck with a crappy looking card if they decide to burn you.
Directions: To use this card you need to have either an Air or Dark Neopet involved in an event. If it turns out that Count Boris loses the event you can untap the card and move it to another arena [gaming arena]. Because of the high stats on this card it is something that you may want to use at the mid point of an event to sweep things up; even more so if you are close to obtaining the 21 points that are necessary to win the game.
Quote: "Boris, get inside now! You'll never be a proper vampire if you jump around in broad daylight!" This card really reflects the whole playful tone of the Blumaroo species; even though Boris is royalty and a vampire, he still dares to venture outside and goof around. The incredibly high stats of this card make this worth getting or trying to collect but if you are a fan of the Blumaroo you will love the artwork on it just as much as the 14.
The image shown here doesn't do the card justice so if you are into The Count or Blumaroos then check your TCG album at the site or cut and paste this URL into your browser window to get a better look at this awesome card:

If you are a fan of Blumaroos then there are some awesome things to collect at the website. Some of my personal favorites are the "Grape Blumaroo Gummy Die", "Blumaroo Pancakes", "Sitting Snow Blumaroo", "Blumaroo Ear Guards", "Bouncy Blue Blumaroo Mug", "Blumaroo Fashion" and "Tyrannian Blumaroo Stamp". Some of the TCG virtual cards that you can collect at the site include "Blumaroo Apprentice", "Blumaroo Squire", "Blumaroo Court Jester" and "Plushie Blumaroo".
The Bottom Line
Even if this card had incredibly low stats I would still try to get a few more of them because of the artwork and the overall feel of it. It takes something dark like a vampire Blumaroo and puts a comical spin on it. Needless to say, the 14 is an incredibly nice perk to the card and that makes it worth trying to get multiples of. I was a little surprised that I only managed to get two of these, even though it is an 'uncommon card' you would think that after all the packs I've bought I would have had the good Blumaroo fortune to get more than two of them. I dont do the TCG events any more but will probably hit a few of the local sponsored events when Neopets released a new deck, expansion deck or theme. Until then I'll keep buying the packs and occasional boxes [when I can get them at a steal of a price] and building decks with them.
As always, thanks for the visit
