| Freak369's Full Review: Neopets Trading Card Game Battle for Meridell Unco... |
With the inclusion of expansion decks and collectible cards, the Neopet TCG game is still alive and thriving. The actual sanctioned events may be few and far between but that doesn't mean that they aren't around. I started collecting the cards to get the promotional codes that can be redeemed at the Neopet website for rare and valuable items; little did I know I would get sucked into collecting them and occasionally playing in events. The Kass's Charm card is what I call a specialty card; not something that a casual player will ever really need but it is nice it you like to collect the cards. If you want to trade this for another card, make sure you are getting a good item card that will get you at least two to three points.
Neopet TCG "Kass's Charm" 81/140
Imagery: If you are a fan of the Neopet website then you know that there are some pretty interesting items associated with Kass; mostly the Kass's Charm and Broken Kass's Charm. The artwork on the card is almost identical as to what you would see at the website. The eerie green glow that the charm gives off lights up about 70% of the card but there are some dark areas near the edges. This is a great close up of the charm and allows you to see the Kass skeleton head clearly. It took me a while to pick up on the subtle outline of a person in the background; this image travels down the body of the card and can be seen in / over the overlaying text box.
Deck Series: Battle For Meridell
Promo Card: No
This is not a rare card. I purchased three boxes of the Battle For Meridell cards and ended up with five of these. Two were automatically saved and not used in events but the others were played almost every time and still look great. The cards do not scratch easily so as long as they are stored properly, they will last along time. This is not a Holofoil card either. Some websites are claiming that this is an "ultra rare" card and that it is a Holofoil [hologram] card. It isn't and you shouldnt believe anyone that says that they have a "mistake card" that was accidentally made into a Holofoil That is something that is impossible since the cards that are in the Holofoil format are made slightly differently than the regular deck cards.
Strength: N/A
Agility: 3
Magic: 3
Intelligence: N/A
When you first look at this card it might not seem all that appealing to play in a game but if you are setting up for a trump or major overtaking, this is an exceptional card to have in play. Why? Because it allows you to move a villain to an arena that doesn't already have one. Again, because this card gives you three points for banking, it is a nice card to play when you are close to winning or just want to throw a curve ball at an opponent.
Year Released: 2004
Series Number: 81/140
Item | Charm | Dark
Directions: In order to play this card you need to have a Dark Neopet; at the end of the arena event you can move one villain to another arena providing that there isn't already one there. The stats on this card are low, only +3 for Agility and Magic, but if you are in the position to try and monopolize the four arenas then this is a card that you will want to select for your deck. Banking this card will give you three more points towards the 21 that are needed to win the game. In that respect, this is one of the better item cards to have.
Quote: "They say that old hag gave him this .. thing .. that makes him super strong and allows him to read your mind, I don't believe those stories though" Who exactly are they referring to when they say "old hag"? Probably Sophie but there are so many different meanies that it could be someone else.
If you are thinking of buying this card outright you can expect to pay from .20 to .30 cents for it. This isn't something that is extremely rare nor it is something that most people will want to or need to have more than five or six of unless you are trying to build complete decks to resell. There is a lot of detail to the card and it looks pretty spooky but it does have its limitations when it comes to game play. To get a better look at the card, please visit the official Neopet website listing for the card or simply cut and paste this URL into your browser:

Other really cool Kass cards include:
15/140 Lord Kass
31/140 Armory of Kass
117/234 General Kass [First Edition]
If you are into collecting Kass related things at the website, here are some awesome picks: Lord Kass Lunch Box, Lord Kass Halloween Costume, Lord Kass Pumpkin, Lord Kass Motif Rug, I Love Lord Kass Pillow and Noble Lord Kass Poster.
The Bottom Line
This card has some great points and some not so good ones; the stats could be better but if they were it would take away from the aspect of it being a good bank card. Overall this is a great card for those who simply like to collect them but if you are into playing the TCG too, it's even nicer. In the hands of an experienced player this can be the death blow because of the ability to move a villain at the end of an event but it could easily work against you if someone plays a "Something Has Happened" card.
As always, thanks for the visit
