When I was a kid, I couldn't understand why Butterfinger was one of my mother's favorite candy bars. I thought the bar was too hard and stuck to my teeth too much. The little bit of chocolate that came with it wasn't enough for me to enjoy the candy bar. On Halloween I would always pass the Butterfingers to my mom or dad. Over the years, however, it seems that the Butterfinger has improved.
Packaging and Price
Butterfinger is made by Nestle and comes in a basic yellow wrapper, which I imagine is supposed to represent the peanut butter. There's nothing fancy to the wrapper, simply "Butterfinger" spelled out in blue across the bar. The bar long and comes in a 2.1 ounce variety at the checkout counters, but can also be purchased in miniature sizes and fun packs. The fun packs come in quantities of 10 bars that are about 2 inches long. I grabbed the regular bar at Wal-Mart recently because they were 50 cents at the checkout counter.
Crispety, Crunchety, Peanut Buttery
Unless you've been living under a rock, you've probably seen the Butterfinger commercial with Bart Simpson. "Better not lay a finger on my Butterfinger." That's been a while, but that still rings in my head when I think of the candy bar. When you bite into a Butterfinger, you immediately notice the crunchy peanut butter. I'm a big peanut butter fan, and I like crunchy peanut butter candies. As I mentioned above, I didn't like Butterfinger when I was a kid, because it was too hard and stuck to my teeth. I don't know if the Butterfinger has gotten softer, or if I just handle it better now, but the taste has improved to me. I remember trying to bite into a bar when I was younger and not being able to get my teeth all the way through the crunchy peanut butter. That is no longer the case. Any Butterfinger bar I've had recently, be it regular or miniature, has been easy to bite and chew. It is very comparable now to the Hershey 5th Avenue.

Overall
As the years have passed, I've grown more fond of the Butterfinger. It is not my favorite candy bar, and if it wasn't so cheap in the checkout line at Wal-Mart, I probably wouldn't buy it. Of course, if someone at work has some little ones lying around, I'll probably start snacking on them. Butterfinger has a decent amount of protein, but at 270 calories, you better limit your intake. An occasional indulgence isn't so bad, but if I had a choice, I'd take 5th Avenue.
