Pros: Rich, creamy, buttery caramel flavor
Cons: Stick to dental work
My husband has become addicted to sweets, and he especially loves to suck on hard candy. The ladies in his office always have hard candies sitting around, and he often brings one home and says "can you find these for me?" Nestle Nips Caramel candies are one of his favorites. We now have a stoneware jar sitting on the counter that is always filled with different kinds of hard candies, including Nips Caramels.
These little round candies are the color of a caramel, but they are a little softer than most other "hard candy". They come in other flavors as well, such as raspberry, butter rum, chocolate cream, and coffee, but we like the caramel.
They come in a little 4 ounce box, and are wrapped in a brown cellophane style paper. The box states that Nips are a Rich and Creamy Hard Candy.
Although I love caramel, (and this Nips is caramel all the way through it), these Nips do get stuck to my dental work. I have several crowns in my mouth, and these really stick to them and they also get stuck down in my molars.
If you are on a diet, like me, the Nips also come in a sugar free variety. They are really good if you are on a low carb diet, because the normal version is indeed high in carbs.
These Nips Caramels are very creamy and buttery tasting, and really do taste different from the square little caramel candies on the market. They almost melt in your mouth if you just suck on them and don't bite into them, but I always end up biting to get more of the flavor. This is the difference between my husband and myself, he will suck on candies until they are entirely gone and doesn't understand how come I can't!
As far as nutrition goes, these are candy so of course they are full of empty calories. They contain corn syrup, sugar, reduced fat sweetened condensed milk, hydrogenated coconut oil, whey, and less than 1% salt, mono and diglycerides, natural and artificial flavors, soy lecithin, and caramel color.
One serving of this candy is two pieces, and the two pieces contain 80 calories, 1.5 grams of fat, 40 mg of sodium, 11 grams of carbs, and 8 grams of sugar. Of course there is no protein, like I said, these are all empty calories. There are 16 Nips in this 4 ounce box, and they sell in my store for around $1.50 per box.
If you like caramels, I recommend you give these a try if you haven't done so yet. 5 out of 5 stars.
