I bought this Neutrogena MicroDermabrasion kit at Costco which came with extra sponges and an extra exfoliating cream for about 50 dollars. The hand held machine vibrates strongly on the face--it reminded me of the massager that I use for relaxing the muscles on my shoulders. It's good that there are two different modes of vibrating strength to choose from. The reason I bought this product was because I wanted to improve the texture and glow of my skin.
Before buying this, I was using a daily exfoliating scrub on my face but the results didn't last over night. I stopped using the daily scrub and switched over to the Neutrogena microdermabrasion. On my first application, I noticed my skin felt very soft although the appearance did not change much. On my second application, many of the little crystals in the exfoliating cream fell from my forehead and into my eyelashes and eyes. This caused my eyes great irritation which lasted for hours. After that, I always close my eyes when I am using the product on my forehead.
Between the third and fourth application, I noticed more of a glow on my skin. I also noticed the microdermabrasion treatments really dried out my skin and I had to use a strong moisturizer afterwards. I didn't break out more than normal. I follow the routine prescribed by the product and work on each area of my face for 2 or less minutes. I always follow the applications with a shower or bath so taking off the product is quite easy.
I have finished 8 applications of microdermabrasion and although my skin is far from flawless, I do see an improvement. Neutrogena claims that after 11 applications (equivalent to 2 professional microdermabrasions), you will see about a twenty three percent improvement in appearance.
So far, I would say that doing eight applications makes my skin look one year younger. It is a lot of work but if you want improvement in your skin and you enjoy having the control and privacy of owning your own private microdermabrasion tool then this may be the product for you. Keep in mind that each sponge is suppose to be used for up to 10 times only. The microdermabrasion cream does last a while but is about 17 dollars to replace.
