Pros: Inexpensive, works well on combo T zone, light feel when applying..worth the $$
Cons: Doesn't *always* absorb into skin..giving slightly icky feel
The Bottom Line: Does the job of helping cleanse and close the pores on my nose for under $10, I use it once a week with no dry side effects. Worth trying!

| maguilar's Full Review: Neutrogena Deep Pore Treatment |
We all know Neutrogena..they line the aisles with their products at the drugstore. I have a few of their products..and have been pleasantly surprised with all..SO FAR. The Deep Pore Treatment from their product line was an impulse buy after a facialist told me to try something with salycic acid for my oily, tiny blemish prone nose.
I have the typical T-Zone..oily nose prone to tiny blackheads, though the rest of my skin is pretty normal. I bought this because the copy on the back said that it would 'deep clean' my pores and that I noticed it had the salycic acid mentioned by the facialist. Not knowing a thing about this acid..I was afraid to try some of the stronger products as I was afraid it might burn my skin (foolish maybe but you NEVER know..).
I use this an average of once a week at night only on my nose area, and it does the job of slightly closing up the pores and makes the surface seem smoother with less visible blemishes and a more 'even' appearance. The gel goes on smoothly, is light feeling, and normally will be absorbed into the skin quickly. However, a few times (maybe 10% of the time) it doesn't quite absorb all the way and just kind of sits on my skin..at which point I'm never quite sure its actually doing anything.
Normally I also use this in conjunction with a Biore pore strip. I put on the strip first, peel it off after 10 minutes, and then rub in the Neutrogena Deep Pore Treatment onto my nose before going to bed. It has not caused any breakouts or negative implications for my nose since using it..which was over 9 months ago. The times I do use it in this collaborative pore strip way..the next morning my nose definitely looks improved.
Since I don't use this more than once a week, I don't have a problem with it drying out my skin. As to bang for the buck, I think it's definitely worth trying it, its cheap enough to try and toss (or pawn off to friend or relative) if it doesn't work. I haven't tried any other 'deep pore' cleansing type products, this was the first one but I'm happy with it so far. Can't say I would put it on other areas of my face though...if it ain't broke--then don't fix it!
