Pros: None.
Cons: Feels like a "film" is left on skin. Does not live up to its claims.
The Bottom Line: There are better facial cleansers out there. Give this one a miss.

Reality
In my opinion, this product FAILED to live up to its claims. The purpose of using products like this, is to cleanse without the use of harsh "soap" chemicals that are found in most facial cleansers. I heard that the idea behind this came from people living in dry areas in France. There, people use carrier oils used in aromatherapy to cleanse the face, by emulsifying dirt and oil found in skin with the carrier oil, and gently removing it with a tissue or a wet cloth. Prior to using the "Gentle Cleanser," I was using "Weleda's Almond Cleanser." Like Neutrogena, Weleda's facial cleanser is similar to a cold cream without the solid creamy like consistency. But unlike Neutrogena, Weleda's cleanser did not leave a filmy residue that ended up causing breakouts.
As for putting moisture back into skin, my skin always felt tight after using this product. Also, I did not notice any resiliency or suppleness in my skin as a result of using this product.
The consistency of the Neutrogena facial cleanser is akin to a facial lotion. It's very fluid, but not watery. Just somewhere between a lotion and a cream. Although it leaves a filmy residue on skin after rinsing it away with water, it does not have an oily consistency. I've never tissued it off as the instruction says. I figured that since it leaves a filmy residue on skin after washing, it would very likely feel slimy if I attempt to simply tissue it off.
The product has no added color (it's creamy white), and has no added scent. It doesn't really have much of a scent. Just has a hint of "chemical" like smell, that is typical of a number of facial lotions such as Cetaphil.
The pump works like any ordinary pump dispenser. It's easy to pump out the product, and a sizeable amount (probably about the size of a quarter) comes out every time you pump (except of course as you run out of the product).
Final Word
I would pass this one and look for something else if you're in the market for a cold cream type facial cleanser. Weleda's facial cleanser is more expensive than Neutrogena, but at least it won't leave any residue or cause breakouts. I was really disappointed with this product. I'm usually very happy with products from Neutrogena, but this one was a definite miss.
