I get so seduced by trendy, expensive skin care lines; but I always come back to golden clear Neutrogena.
My face tends to be oily and slightly prone to blemishes. I'm also a forty-something woman whose skin no longer has the youthful resilience and glow it once did. My own lazy habits and Houston's smoggy, tropically-humid air render me dermatologically challenged.
I've tried Clinique, Murad, Estee Lauder, Body Shop, and Origins. They work fine, and they give me a feeling of luxury. But they cost a heck of a lot of money and require a special trip to a shopping center or department store -- yuk! The stress and distress of extra driving and human and automotive traffic bring extra blotches and blemishes to my skin.
Neutrogena skin care products are available at every drugstore and also at many upscale grocery stores. The clean white packaging is easy to spot along the shelves, and the simplistic design lines seem to be subliminally soothing.
I used to buy the bar soap, but it seemed to dissolve quickly. I prefer the new liquid soap in a pump dispenser (8oz., clear plastic container with a black pump). Not only does it make for a nicer appearance on the bathroom counter, but it lasts a long time.
When I use Neutrogena soap, my skin texture feels smoother and I get fewer breakouts. It does not dry my skin too much, like products specifically for oily skin seem to do. After cleansing, my face feels fresh, and there is no soapy residue, which I find with many inexpensive soaps or cleansers. I do generally follow up with Neutrogena Pore Refining Toner and Oil of Olay Total Effects lotion, but in a rush, my face would be "good to go" just washed with Neutrogena.
Neutrogena may not have the cachet of department store lines, but it works as well or better for much less cash outlay.
