Pros: Least expensive, most effective - how can I lose? It works!
Cons: Tube is quite small, but it lasts at least 3 months.
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this unequivocally. It's worked wonders for me. My 32 y/o daughter has been using it for 2 years; she recommends it to her friends too.
fiona32's Full Review: Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti Wrinkle Cream
In the last 7 or 8 years, I'd suddenly realized I could no longer afford to ignore all the "product propoganda" ads in Women's Magazines for anti-aging products. I guess being blessed with good Irish genes, and giving up smoking and drinking 29 years ago (yes, that's a whole 'nother review!), I never worried about the calendar.
I was the grammy who still secretly felt FANTASTIC when I took my grandsons 9 and 12 out, and waitresses admonished them to behave for their mother, who was home on the farm!
So what happened? About 5 years ago, almost within a year, lines around my lips, corners of my eyes and Good Lord - even my cheeks.....were unmistakable!
Solution - every Alpha-Hydroxy product on the market eventually found its way to my bathroom. Even the prescription Lac-Hydrin 12% became part of my arsenal. Vain? I'm not sure that's it, but what the heck - I've always felt a skin-care regimen is more important than any make-up. I've been a Mary Kay Asst. Director, a consultant 2 or 3 times again over the years, a Beauti-Control Consultant- all since my mid-20's, and through my early 40's. And I'd learned what I thought I needed to know about skin care. The Alpha-Hydroxys do work - some better than others. But I can honestly say today, after using NeutroGena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream, it is the best! I discovered it browsing through a Vogue Magazine on a plane 3 summers ago (definitely not my normal choice of reading material, though a fine magazine, I'm sure). And there was an article interviewing 5 female dermatologists, asking them all the typical questions, then ending with "and what is your OWN skin care regime"? Four of the five said they used the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Cream ---- because it worked! And obviously cost was not an object for them.
I purchased it the next day. I have been using this product faithfully ever since. I'm realistic, and know I'm not seeing a 25 year old staring back in the mirror. But what I did start to see and feel, after just one week, was softer smoother skin, uneven skin tones evening out, and pores shrinking.
Within one month, what I read in the Vogue article was more than hypothetical. The fine lines around my eyes were reduced by at least 50%. The wrinkles from the corners of my mouth downward were plumped up, barely visible. At that point I was sold. I have continued to remain so. Neutrogena Anti-Wrinkle Cream has become the mainstay of my skin care regimen, morning and night, for one reason - I see the difference, as do my daughters, my most honest critics.
I truly do not resent the turning of the pages on life's calendar. It's better than the alternative. But if I can maintain a relatively youthful look for as long as possible, I will. Last week, I ran into a man I knew from church, just barely. We were in Meijers, and I introduced my grandsons by name to him.....and his response? "Oh, these are your sons?" Sorry, but that made me feel good.
Neutrogena Healthy Skin cream doesn't go on greasy, it softens my skin immediately, and then starts doing it's work. I use it religiously at bedtime, and in the morning after my shower, under make-up.
According to the label, it is oil free, non-comedogenic (doesn't clog pores), is hypo-allergenic, (which is important to me), and contains no fragrance. They soon came out with an SPF 15 Formula, along with the Original. I only need a very small amount, so for the average $l0 per tube, it lasts about three months. Not bad, when I compare it with the Estee and Clinique products I've tried, along with the alpha-hydroxy acids.
Confession - last month, I was browsing Rite-Aid's shelves; they have the identical product under their own label. It even uses the same wording on the front of the tube - "A Retinol Facial Treatment with Multi-Vitamins, Reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and age spots, Increases the firmness of the skin". It cost about $3.00 less on sale, and I tried it. For the last month I've used it, and may or not purchase it again, but I truthfully see or feel no difference between Rite-Aid's brand, and Neutrogena's. For the few extra dollars' savings, it's just an option you may want to consider if you'd like to give it a try. The ingredient list is identical.
So far, this product has sold me - because I see and feel the results. I definitely don't shush my grandchildren when they yell, "Hey Gram!" in a store, nor will I ever - they're my greatest joy. But if Gram can forestall those signs of aging a few more years? I say why not?
