Getting rid of wrinkles is a popular past time these days. It seems everyone I know over the age of 25 is mildly concerned about the few lines around the eyes or across the forehead. I’ve been conscious of my tell-tale wrinkles forming since the ripe old age of 28, and have tried various measures to stop this inevitable process: visible aging. While these topical creams may prevent future lines, I’ve yet to find much that erases those already there.

Neutrogena’s Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream is a product I’ve scanned over many times on the store shelf. It was only after reading about it here at Epinions that I decided to take the plunge and try for myself. Most reviews have been favorable, so why not? A few lines are all I’ve got to lose.

The Claim
Containing Retinol (Vitamin A), this concoction should:
¨ visibly reduce the signs of sun damage:
Fine lines and wrinkles, age spots
¨ Increase skin firmness (in 4 weeks)
¨ Soften and smooth skin (in 1 weeks)
¨ Even out skin tone (in 8 weeks)
¨ Reduce appearance of large pores (in 8 weeks)

Neutrogena has also thrown in Pro-Vitamin B5, Vitamin E, and ‘special moisturizers’ to help the Retinol along to basically feed your skin. Nonetheless, having used this product for almost 2 months, I’m sorry to say I haven’t seen much improvement. One positive thing I can report would be improved skin tone. That was an almost immediate result of daily use. Perhaps my wrinkles are of a more serious nature, needing exposure to this product for a longer period of time than I’ve allowed so far. Even though the cream has been ineffective in treating my wrinkles, it hasn’t done any worse than others I’ve tried, and has some benefits.

Sun Protection
One of the things that gets us all into this wrinkley-mess is the sun and it’s damaging rays. This Anti-Wrinkle cream contains an SPF of 15, so each time you smooth it on you’re preventing future wrinkles. There’s no smell, so I don’t have to worry about smelling like a coconut while keeping my face protected.

Other Benefits
The cream itself is of a medium consistency, easily smoothing into the skin and spreading well. (A little goes a long way, and by my estimate the tube should last 3 or 4 months at this rate.) It makes a great base for applying foundation. Skin tone has improved, especially around the jaw line; let’s face it-every little bit helps. The product comes in a foil tube (1.4 oz.) standing on the cap end, allowing you to control how much you get out of it. This also lets you to squeeze out the last bits to prevent wasting the last half ounce. It claims to be non-comedogenic and hypo-allergenic, which is great for sensitive skin types.

Final Note
I’ve been happy with Neutrogena products in the past, and after reading the reviews here on this site I really hoped this would be the anti-wrinkle cream for me. While not expecting a face-lift, I hoped I’d see more improvement in the lines that are just starting to appear. Sadly, I did not. While disappointing in the wrinkle-removal department, it still makes a great SPF and skin cream, even though a bit prices. I think I’ll keep looking…
