amyk49's Full Review: Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti Wrinkle Cream
Too much California sun when I was growing up had taken a toll on my skin, and when I began to really notice fine lines and wrinkles appearing, I decided to delve into the vast array of anti-aging skin products available.
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream, at about $10 for a 1.4 oz. tube, is a fairly reasonable price considering some of the high-end anti-aging treatments out there. And in my experience over the last year, this product has made a difference in the way my skin feels and looks.
~ The Packaging
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream comes in a metal tube, packaged inside a box. The back of the box even has a silhouette of the actual size of the tube, so you know exactly what you're getting. The metal tube works very well at dispensing the cream - all you have to do is roll up the tube as you go.
To open a new tube you must unscrew the cap, turn it upside down and fit it over the top of the metal tube. There is a point that will then pierce the metal tube to open it. Unfortunately, nowhere is this process described. The first time I bought this product I did a bit of fumbling around trying to figure out how to open it. (Okay, so maybe I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but this is not the way most skin creams open.)
~ Neutrogena's Claims for this product
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream is a Retinol facial treatment with multi-vitamins, which according to Neutrogena:
- Visibly reduces the signs of sun damage; fine lines and wrinkles, and age spots
- Increases skin firmness
- Softens and smoothes skin
Neutrogena claims that after 8 weeks there will be a significant improvement with increased skin firmness, softer and smoother skin, evened out skin tone, and reduced appearance of large pores.
My Experience and Results
After using Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream for about 1 or 2 weeks, I definitely noticed softer and smoother skin. After about 2 to 3 months, my skin started to feel somewhat firmer. Some of the very small, fine lines around my mouth seemed less noticeable. Of course, no miracle yet, most of my "major" wrinkles are still there. Darn!
To date, about a year now since I've been using the product, I haven't noticed a difference in the appearance of large pores, nor any change in skin tone.
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream is very light and creamy, non-greasy, and absorbs quickly. A little goes a long way, so the 1.4 oz. tube lasts for about 3 months. This product works well alone or under makeup.
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream contains a combination of pro-vitamin B5 and vitamin E. It is fragrance free, non-comedogenic (won't clog pores), hypo-allergenic, and dermatologist tested.
Neutrogena warns that you may experience mild tingling or redness when first using this product. I noticed a very mild tingling the first couple of times I used it, but never since. I've had no irritation or redness. There is a caution to avoid contact with eye area.
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream really made a big difference in the way my skin feels. Small, fine lines and wrinkles have diminished somewhat. It's light and creamy, and works nicely under makeup. There is now a formula available with SPF, too. For the price, it's worth it.
