I started using Neutrogena’s Light Night Cream (LNC) while I was on rotation in Houston, Texas during the winter. I had read somewhere that even oily skin (like mine) needed to be moisturized. I perused the aisle of beauty creams and found the trusted Neutrogena brand. The formula was touted as light and non-greasy, a definite plus in my books because I cannot stand the feel of anything weighty on my face, and the cream claimed to double the skin’s moisture level.
The Product
The LNC is packaged in a small, white container with a light blue cap. The net weight is 2.25 ounces (63 g) and the cost was a reasonable $10. The LNC is white and has the consistency of a heavy whipping cream.
Neutrogena Claims:
· Double skin moisture level for 8 full hours,
· Leaves skin soft and smooth in the morning.
· Light, non-greasy formula absorbs quickly into skin.
· Dermatologist tested.
· Hypo-allergenic.
· Non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores).
· Fragrance free.
· Alcohol free.
Directions:
Apply every night after cleansing. Smooth a small amount over your face and neck.

My Skin Type
· Oily beyond belief – Oil factory in overtime!
· Golden undertone
· Large pores in T-zone
· Red blotchy areas at times (usually by nose and chin)
· Frequency of breakouts = occasional/rare (1 – 2 per month)
· Occasional use of powder foundation to even out skin tone, but that is it in the make-up department
My Experience
The touch of the cream is very light. I placed a small dabs of the cream over different areas of my face, hitting the cheeks, forehead, and chin with small spots of cream. Then I smoothed the cream over and found that the cream was quickly absorbed into my skin. There was no feeling of greasiness or that there was a layer of cream on my face. There was, however, a very faint smell. Fragrance free may refer to no added fragrance, but the ingredients do exude some faint chemical smell.
The next morning, I awakened to very soft and supple skin. It was amazing how much the small amount of cream had moisturized my skin! There is nothing to clean off from your face in the morning because the cream is completely absorbed into the skin. The 2.25 ounces of cream goes a long way; I’ve used the same container of cream for more than 5 months. I found that it only takes a little bit of this cream to work its magic.
True to its claim, the cream does not clog pores. I have not seen an increase in clogged pores since using this product. Having used the cream on a consistent basis, I have not seen an increase in the frequency of blemishes or breakouts. I only use this cream at night time because it does not have any SPF protection, hence it would not be wise to use this as my daytime moisturizer. I have begun to decrease my frequency with this product. I had been using it on a nightly basis (especially during the winter), but as the seasons change, I find that during the spring and summer months, I can skip a few nights and my skin does not protest.
Though Neutrogena did not specify which type of skin is best suited for this cream, I imagine that anyone who desires smoother and softer skin would benefit. I know that Neutrogena's Light Night Cream has truly been effective in replenishing the moisture my skin.
