| jaderabbit's Full Review: Neutrogena Multi Vitamin Acne Treatment |
Neutrogena Multi-Vitamin Acne Treatment has improved the texture and appearance of my skin. For me, it's not a standalone treatment, but for someone with less persistent acne, it may well be the only answer necessary.
This product appealed to me because it looked like a preventive method, not a spot treatment. I've had good luck with Neutrogena products in the past, so I thought it would be worth a try.
Neutrogena Multi-Vitamin Acne Treatment is a light, peach-colored lotion sold in a 2.5-ounce pump bottle. I discern no fragrance. Just after washing and drying my face, I use two squirts of the lotion to cover my entire face with a thin layer. As with any health product, I highly recommend reading the instructions and ingredients before applying it.
At first, I found the Multi-Vitamin Acne Treatment a tiny bit drying, but I didn't mind that--it reminded me to put on a moisturizer with sunscreen. My skin adjusted to it within a week, but I still follow it with an oil-free sunscreen.
Neutrogena Multi-Vitamin Acne Treatment claims to use vitamins, plant extracts, and an acne-control ingredient (1.5% salicylic acid) to reduce breakouts, improve the texture of the skin, and promote healing of past breakouts.
To explain the treatment's effectiveness, I have to explain a little about my skin. My acne problem isn't severe, but it is persistent--even with prescription treatment, I'm rarely without a few blemishes. The most effective treatments for it have been a combination of topical creams and antibiotic pills prescribed for a dermatologist. I wasn't crazy about taking antibiotics indefinitely, and other proposed treatments appealed to me even less, so I've made the switch to non-prescription treatment.
The Multi-Vitamin Acne Treatment does appear to reduce breakouts and hasten the healing process. Since I started using this treatment, I've noticed a reduction in the number of blemishes and blackheads, and in post-breakout redness. My face looks clearer in general.
For me, this is not a magic bullet. I still have to use a spot treatment on the blemishes. I've also noticed that I get tiny bits of dead skin, just as I do with alpha-hydroxy products. A weekly clay mask takes care of these and further improves my skin's texture. You may or may not find these supplements useful; everyone's skin is different.
I'm pleased with my results with Neutrogena Multi-Vitamin Acne Treatment. If you have problems with acne, I suggest looking into it.
Disclaimer: I'm not a medical professional, and I'm not trying to discourage anyone from seeing dermatologists. If you are concerned about your skin's health, I suggest you see a dermatologist.
