| yenz's Full Review: Neutrogena Multi Vitamin Acne Treatment |
Hi again , I've been using the product for more than 2 months now. Here's the necessary update in bold
Me
I've combination skin which is acne prone. My skin recently flared up again and it became blotchy and had scars after using Dalacin T, an acne treatment.
I decided to get rid of my cleanser which had Ternifolia Nut Oil in it, (I've no idea what kind of nut is that but oil laden cleansers is a no-no for my type of skin right? (-; ) and invested my hopes into Neutrogena's Oil-Free Acne Wash and Neutrogena's Multivitamin Treatment.
The Product
The key thing to note is its stated purpose : "A daily, invisible, leave-on, dual-action lotion helps reduce appearance of marks and blotchiness left from past breakouts." Fits my bill perfectly!
There's a nice progress chart on the box which you can follow if you want to see if this works for your skin.
It comes in a nice plastic bottle with a pump dispenser which dispenses by small quantity which is great because you only need a thin layer once a day and that's about 2-3 "pumps". Makes this product long lasting!
The light liquid is orange in colour! But that's because of the yellow and red colouring. I personally think these chemicals should be excluded, because I've read many times that red colouring may cause breakouts or allergy reactions. So if your skin had a previous bad experience with products containing this, DO AVOID THIS PRODUCT.
My Experience
It has only been a week since I started using this, but I saw the stated results fr the 2nd week of usage (yes to "improved overall complexion", "improved skin clarity", "improved skin texture" and "smoother skin")! Lets verify its other claims.
"Invisible lotion" - True. Once applied it disappears! So why bother including the colour chemicals?
"No greasy or sticky after-feel" - True. The lotion immediately absorbs into my skin. My skin feels smooth almost instantly. But it doesn't help with my oily T-zone, still gets oily later in the day!
False. Above was during Canberra's winter. Now that I'm on my hols in a more humid environment, it's totally greasy upon application!
"Ideal with a moisturizer or under makeup" - True. Doesn't affect the moisturizer or makeup. Sometimes, I skip on the moisturizer because the lotion seems to be enough for my skin to look supple.
"A hydroxy acid (salicylic acid) that works by removing complexion-dulling cells and dry rough skin. Natural fruit extracts to help reduce the appearance of blotchiness and reveal a clearer, smoother complexion" - True. I noticed my scars have lightened and some blotchiness have slightly even out. My skin looks healthier on the whole and I can't wait to see the results after a month!
Now that 2 MONTHS HAVE PASSED, am I equally pleased with the product? N-O ! Totally disappointed! All the earlier hoo-ha for nothing ! (-;
Why o why?
(i) At one point, it decided not to work anymore. Scars are only lighten up to a certain point.
(ii) I had a later breakout with slightly deeper scars, and it didn't help with that at all.
(iii) Again, I'm back home for the hols where the weather is more humid, and the product feels greasy on my skin while it was non-greasy during winter in Canberra.
Good Points
-The Vitamins A E and Pro Vit B5 , the NATURAL fruit extracts , salicylic acid and glycolic acid which I have read works on deep cleansing of the pores as well as keeping the pores clear.
-My pores do look somewhat smaller
Pls Note that ..
The product did not claim to help improve your acne condition, so do not expect that, nor does it unclog pores. It may help with minor acne (those caused by clogged up pores) by keeping unclogged pores unclogged but not for those with moderate or severe acne. You still need to rely on some proper acne treatment.
Where can you buy it from?
The 70ml lotion is easily available at any drugstores. I paid a whopping AUD$18.95 (US$12.50) for mine. But in the US, it's only US$5.00 ! The injustice !
