Even at age 25 I still have the unfortunate pleasure of getting visits from blemishes, or even Acne, especially during certain times of the month. So with that, A woman can get pretty desperate, and I'm no exception. When I see a product that claims to have vitamins, plus acne controlling ingredients, it's a definite 'shoe in' for my next science experiment on my face.
Bottle Indications: For the treatment of acne
Active Ingredient: 1.5% Salicylic Acid
Neutrogena Multi-Vitamin acne treatment is basically an oil free, vitamin enriched lotion with Salicylic Acid. Salicylic Acid is a Dinosaur ingredient that was found in both acne and anti aging products that date back to the 1960s. Salicylic Acid exfoliates the superficial layers of the skin without actually scrubbing by increasing your skins natural shedding process. So people with Dermatitis, Eczema, and Seborrhea should NOT use this product!
Neutrogena Multi-Vitamin Acne treatment comes in a 2.5 fluid ounce 'rectangular like' bottle with a dispensing spout for easy use. The product is a very thin lotion that is supposed to be applied on the face once or twice daily after cleansing. If you do have dry skin, I recommend that you wait at least 30 minutes before using this product; your skin is very penetrable during this time period and will absorb most of the 'drying' Salicylic acid, furthering your skin complications. The Smell of the lotion is pleasant, not too strong, but it does bug me that this product has enough fragrance to be smelt, fragrance is a 'no no' for sensitive, acne prone skin.
NOTE: I would give you the list of ingredients, but there is none posted on the bottle, other than Salicylic Acid. On the front of the bottle Neutrogena Boasts that Vitamins A, E, B5, and fruit extracts are somewhere in the bottle, but do not mention how much.
My Experience: Without being too dramatic, "I hated it!" Not only did this product dry out my skin, it seemed to increase oil production, so I was left with oily scales all over my face. On the contrary to my own satisfaction, or lack of, my pimples seemed to love this product, for they decided to multiply rapidly with each use. My face went from looking bad, to worse, to me staying home praying to god for clear skin. I used this product for almost 3 months hoping that one day it would decide to start working, but like my 1989 Mercury sable it never did.
My Advice See your Dermatologist! If you want topical Vitamins, you can always buy an oil free moisturizer that has loads of them without the drying effects of Salicylic Acid. This product may work for you, but if it doesn't in 2 weeks or so, I highly doubt it ever will. Don't wait as long as I did for results.
