jasonkirk's Full Review: Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash
I think I suffer from the same disease all young people do . . . intense over-reaction to any skin problem. If I really take an objective view, my skin isn't bad at all. At 21, I am through the teenage zit-fest. Maybe that is why I over-react whenever I see a zit or two. Whenever things seem to get out of hand, I just make sure I wash my face twice a day with Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash and within a week my skin is back to normal.
When I went to my dermatologist she recommended that I use Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash to control any acne breakouts. I began using it and I did notice a difference within a couple days. My skin didn't seem to look oily any more and with time, it cleared up noticeably.
My one problem is that unless I use some sort of moisturizer on my skin, this product will cause it to dry out after a while. I found that using a non-comedogenic lotion (such as Cetaphil lotion) helped to combat the dry skin.
I now only use Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash in periods when my skin begins to break out. I hate putting excess medications and products on when I don't need to. My skin seems to normally be pretty clear so I don't find it a daily necessity.
I find the best way to use this product is to keep it in the shower with my soap and shampoo. I wash my hair. Then I use the soap (not on my face) and finally I use two squirts of Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash and massage it over my face for about a minute. It is important to not rinse this off right away as the medication needs some time to absorb into your skin.
If you want to use this outside of the shower, make sure you first wet your face with warm water to prepare your pores.
One of the better things about this product is that it is alcohol free. Many facial cleanser with alcohol burn sensitive skin and leave you all read and puffy. Another plus is that it uses salicylic acid rather than the harsher benzoyl peroxide.
If this product does burn your face, go see your doctor. Chances are you probably have extremely sensitive skin and need something prescribed by your doctor.
