Pros: The spot-treating cream has an easy flip top cap. Vanishes into skin.
Cons: Several applications needed to minimize the pimple. Works best mainly on small pimples.
The Bottom Line: Just try it. It is not the end all of all your acne problems, but it does help.

| mattyd5's Full Review: Neutrogena On The Spot |
Though skin types and sensitivities vary from person to person, I think Neutrogena's On-The-Spot Acne cream (Maximum Strength) is worthy enough for an individual to at least try once. It may work better for some than others. The main reason why I purchased this product was because I wanted to try a different form of acne treatment. As I have found Neutrogena products to be reliable and effective, I opted to try this product. It also was relatively inexpensive, so that was another plus.
Although it is effective on smaller-sized pimples, you know it is working to some degree because of a slight stinging and tingling sensation upon the initial application. What is good about it is that it does not dry out your skin, but only dries out the actual pimple. There is no pungent smell to the cream, so you need not worry about any irritating aromas lingering about your face. Another plus that I have noticed is that when applied early (when you can feel the pimple before it fully surfaces), it will minimize and even stunt its growth.
The bad thing about this cream is that you must put on a decent amount onto the affected area, for a thin coat will not do. In addition, sometimes the pimple that you hope will miraculously disappear does not. It may take two or three days for it to "kill" it. From past experience, this cream does NOT help kill the larger pimples. It only helps with the tiny ones. I'm assuming that because of its sensitivity to dryness, it skimps out a little on the power of zit destruction. Another thing you should watch out for is how you apply the cream onto your face. Don't rub too hard otherwise it will leave white marks. I suggest lightly rubbing it until it's halfway dry.
This product works best for people with very mild acne problems. It works for people who have dry or sensitive skin as well.
Update
It's been a few months since last I reviewed this item. My acne has thankfully cleared up by itself now, but I still use this product as a "just-in-case" measure. There isn't much more I can really say about the product - I still have the same suggestions and observations as before. It's better used as a prevention method rather than a "seek-and-destroy." I currently use it twice a day - morning and night - on the areas more prone to form acne. I smear it around, but only enough so that the white color vanishes. If you rub it in too much it leaves white marks, so let as much of the medication absorb into your skin. Also, try not to scratch/rub the area on which you just applied the On-The-Spot because otherwise you will have very small white rolls of the medication on your face...efforts to wipe/pat away those will be futile because that will just cause more of the medication to roll up. So basically, just let the medication absorb for about 20 minutes and you'll be fine.
One more thing to remember is to keep it away from the corners of your nose and near your eyes, for they will overdry those sensitive areas...well, it did for me anyway. Constant use over those areas will make your skin begin to get pretty dry and peel slightly, so just be careful not to abuse it.
