| meeshling's Full Review: Neutrogena On The Spot |
I don't like violence. I don't like fighting. But I guess I forgot to tell my face this. We are at war. I want to get rid of all the blackheads and whiteheads and pimples and zits and pustules that I have been blessed with. I don't know if my face feels the same way, but I do know that I continue to be plagued by all of these things. What my face doesn't know is that I have an arsenal of products that I use to attack it, yet still treat it sort of gently (it is my face, after all).
All right, so maybe I am exaggerating just a teensy bit. My face has gotten a lot better over the past few months through a combination of keeping it clean and seeing a dermatologist. But recently my prescription ran out and I was just too lazy to refill it - so I decided to find new products to put into my arsenal, because I might have won this battle against my skin, but I had not won the war yet.
Do You Have a Point? or, The Discovery of Neutrogena On-The-Spot
So I started washing my face regularly, moisturizing, and exfoliating. And my face was looking pretty darn good. But I was still afraid that without any form of medication, my acne would start to sneak back. I have really sensitive skin and had problems with high concentration products in the past. So when I discovered Neutrogena On-The-Spot in my room (I must have bought it months ago and never thought of it again), I read the back. Quoth the Neutrogena On-The-Spot propaganda, "2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide formula provides the effectiveness of a 10% Benzoyl Peroxide formula with less irritation. Helps clear up acne fast while treating skin gently." This sounded all fine and dandy. But would it work?
The Trial Run
Post bedtime preparation rituals, and slid into bed and squeezed a little bit of the Neutrogena On-The-Spot onto my finger tips. I spread it on my skin, and it absorbed really quickly - the only problem with this was that I had to use more than I normally would have because it was absorbed into my skin before I could spread it out - a minor problem. I rubbed it in, put my head on the pillow and went to sleep.
I love sleeping (sorry, off topic).
So I woke up the next morning. And my face wasn't over irritated, like it had been mornings after using a higher percentage product. And I didn't see a difference in my skin (I sound like a Rogaine commercial, but it's true!). I dreaded waking up to find a new pustule or a whitehead smiling its little whitehead smile at me ... especially when it had not been there the night before. This worked like a dream!
The Verdict
I'd recommend you use this if you have sensitive skin, and maybe have been unresponsive to other, higher concentrated products. The Benzoyl Peroxide, which kills the bacteria deep inside your pores, really has kept my skin nice and clear. So maybe I have won the war - but I'll keep on using Neutrogena On-The-Spot, just in case.
