| Nana530's Full Review: Neutrogena Sensitive Skin Sunblock Lotion |
I have always had very sensitive skin and would sunburn every time I went out in the sun. We used to not have sunscreens so I have suffered many sunburns. When they came out with sunscreens, I tried many of them. They would all make me miserable, but did work in protecting me from sunburn. I had to weigh the consequences. Either I had a sunburn, or I used sunscreen and my eyes burned and watered. I would always end up with my face breaking out and have to put up with that for about a week after I used sunscreen. I tried from the cheapest, to the very, very expensive brands of sunscreen.
About two years ago I was going on a weekend fishing trip with my son and his family. We had already gotten pretty into our trip when I realized that I forgot to bring any sunscreen. My daughter in law had not brought any either, so we stopped at K-Mart and went in to get some sunscreen. I happened to see the Neutrogena Sensitive Skin Sunblock on the shelf. I picked up the bottle and read the label. It said it wouldn't burn the eyes and was fragrance free. I thought "yeah, right," but decided to purchase it and give it a try.
My oldest granddaughter also has very fair skin and sunburns easily. She is allergic to all the sunscreens, even the one's made for babies. They cause large sores to appear all over her body. She had to avoid being out in the sun, so didn't get to play with all the other children in the sunlight.
When we got back in the car my daughter-in-law real the label on bottle and decided to try it on my granddaughter. She put just a little on the side of her arm. When we arrived at our destination, she still hadn't turned red or shown any signs of a reaction from the Neutrogena. We put just a little on her face and let her fish for a while. It worked, she didn't sunburn nor have an allergic reaction to it.
I was extremely pleased to discover that it really did work for me. The Neutrogena Sensitive Skin Sunblock didn't burn my eyes or make my face itch and break out. It worked great to keep me from getting sunburned. Now I can play in the sun. :o)
I did some research to find out just why this product worked so well and here's what they said:
Neutrogena Sensitive Skin Sunblock SPF 17 gently protects skin using a non-irritating sunscreen ingredient called titanium dioxide that blocks the sun's damaging rays. Titanium dioxide doesn't irritate the skin because it physically blocks the sun's damaging rays like a piece of clothing and not with the use of chemicals. The result is an effective sunscreen that provides broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection without irritation. It is dermatologist recommended, hypo-allergenic, non-comedogenic, fragrance free and PABA free.
I usually put sunscreen on before I leave the house and this seems to work better for me. You must remember to put it on frequently if you are going to be out in the sun for a long period of time. If you are swimming, since it's not waterproof you will need to reapply when you get out of the water.
Thank you Neutrogena for making this wonderful product for all of us who have sensitive skin. You get a five star rating from me.
