| mbmattson's Full Review: Neutrogena Sunless Tanning Lotion Medium |
I started using self tanners many years ago after reading
about how harmful my visits to the tanning beds were. There
had to be a better way to look tan without spending the
money and time it took to bake under a lamp. Since I
am a student, I spend most of my time indoors, either
in class or studying. I get as pale as a ghost and needed
some help fast! I decided to try some self tanners and
have found that the Neutrogena spray is the best overall
and the one I will stick with.
I tried all the others..the cheap ones and the expensive
department store brands. They were either too orangy or
too smelly or just too darn expensive to use frequently
like I needed to. I was not going to pay $30 for a small
tube that wouldn't last a month! I finally saw ads for
Neutrogena and decided to give them a try at the $8
price since they had so many other great skin products
that I already was using.
I liked that Neutrogena offered a spray self tanner
along with the cream and foam. I had always used the
cream and found that I made many mistakes and often
got streaks in places that I wouldn't have with a spray.
I tried the spray, thinking it would be much quicker
and would tan more evenly. I was right! It takes no
time at all to spray and smooth it onto my legs. I have
never had streaks and the color looks extremely natural
on me.
People always ask me how I find the time to bask
in the sun so much. I just smile and say that I study
outside..sure. With what I have read on skin cancer
and early stages of aging due to sun exposure, I layer
on the sun screen when I am outdoors. What is the use
of having wrinkles at an early age and leathery looking
skin as I age when I can look good using self tanner?
I also found that self tanner can make your legs and other
body parts appear more firm and in better shape. My legs
look a lot better when tan than they do when they are white
and pasty. I am not too vain in many areas, but if you
can make your legs look better without adding extra exercise,
I say go for it!
I highly recommend the Neutrogena spray. It does take
practice but is easy to use and dries quickly. The key is
to wash your hands very thoroughly after using the tanner
and also wiping a cloth lightly over areas such as knees,
ankles, elbows, etc..so the tanner doesn't get too dark in
those crevices. If you make mistakes, it is easy to correct
them with peroxide or even nail polish remover.
Compared to the others I have tried, it smells pretty good.
Actually, there is a certain chemical in all self tanners
which makes it smell when it soaks into your skin. I just
take a good shower after I use the tanner. I also like
how it comes in 2 different shades: light/medium or
medium/dark. I use the darker version since I always keep
a base color. It only takes 3 hours to create a nice base
tan and then I maintain it by re-applying every 2 to 3 days.
I definately recommend Neutrogena spray self tanner to
anyone who wants a quick natural looking tan.
