| AliventiAsylum's Full Review: Neutrogena Therapeutic T/Gel Shampoo Original Form... |
It's not bad enough that my hair is baby fine and thin, but every year around the time we turn on our hot-air gas heat, I get a maddening case of dry scalp that doesn't disappear until we turn off the heat sometime in the spring.
The only shampoo I have found that has any effect at all on this is Neutrogena Therapeutic T/Gel Shampoo. I have gone through the Head & Shoulders, Selsun Blue, and Denorex line of products to no avail.
Neutrogena Therapeutic T/Gel Shampoo controls the symptoms of dandruff, psoriasis, and seborrheic dermatitis. These are all skin conditions that specifically affect the scalp area causing flaking. The Neutrogena Therapeutic T/Gel Shampoo is made with neutar solubilized coal tar extract. This ingredient keeps on working even after the shampoo has been rinsed out to make the scalp healthier.
The shampoo itself is a thick, clear, amber gel. The consistency makes it easy to use more than is necessary - a plus for the manufacturer, a drawback for my pocketbook. At $14.99 for a 16 oz. bottle, it is a very expensive shampoo. The fragrance is not unpleasant, but not exactly inviting either. Fortunately, I almost always use a conditioner on my hair which has a much more pleasant fragrance.
Usually I try to use Neutrogena Therapeutic T/Gel Shampoo two to three times a week during the winter months. I apply the gel directly to my scalp and work it into a decent later and through the hair. After leaving it on for several minutes, it rinses out very clean. My hair has the same body, shine and manageability as when I use my regular shampoo.
Neutrogena Therapeutic T/Gel Shampoo is available in Original, Fine or Oily, Stubborn Itch and Intensive Anti-Flake formulas. All are alcohol-free.
