My regular routine was to buy two pairs of Nike sneakers per year, buying the second pair after the first pair wore out. But when I tried New Balance (I have to admit, I tried them for the look), I found that they lasted for almost two years under constant wear and tear. I have worn mine almost everyday, for work, sports, running, walking, and even sledding.
If you need a pair of shoes that will go anywhere with you, so you don't have soccer shoes, basketball shoes, running shoes, and fashion sneakers, New Balance shoes will do the job. The best thing about New Balance is that while they add models from year to year, they have not yet retired my old favorites. After 22 months, I can walk into almost any shoe store and get my turquoise 761's, exactly like my old ones.
These sneakers have a very low "break in" period; they were comfortably molded to my foot in about a week. I find them comfortable and attractive.
