| seacow's Full Review: New Balance 806 All Terrain Series Running Shoes |
Ive been wearing New Balance for as long as I can remember. The reason is that New Balance has a variety of widths and I tend to have a narrow foot. I walk a lot and I find that I can alternate between running and walking shoes without much of a difference in support. I know that different types of shoes are designed differently; your foot impacts the ground differently if youre running versus when youre playing tennis. However, I cant explain what the difference is.
Youre probably wondering how I came to pick this particular shoe. As I said, I was picking between all of the available running and walking shoes made by New Balance. Part of it came down to which styles were available in 12-D. (Yes, I realize that theres another reviewer on Epinions thats a 12-D and hes also written a review on this very product. I guess its a common shoe size.)
After that, it came down to selecting based on style and price. Of the four of five varieties that the store had, this one won out. The shoe is mostly gray tones with a little bit of yellow. The shoelaces are particularly long. I dont mind so much, but its often gotten the attention of people that think that my shoes are untied. Ive never tripped over them, so I dont think its a problem.
As with previous shoes, the 806 lasted me about a year, and I do a lot of walking. I dont really need to know all of the details about a shoe. I just need to know that it fits and that it will last for a while, and the 806 worked on both counts. There was no discomfort when using them other than when I was walking for a long time, and even than, discomfort was usually minimal.
I purchased new shoes about a month ago, but Im saving these as work shoes in case I need something that I dont mind getting dirty. Had it not been for the fact that the shoe was almost falling apart, I would probably still be wearing them.
In case youre preparing to write a long-winded comment about how running shoes are radically different from walking shoes, Ive replaced the pair of 806 shoes with the 641 and the 490, both walking shoes. After Ive had them for a while, Ill write reviews on those.
