Pros: Reasonably priced. LOVED the upgrade to the "Jacuzzi" room. Nice casino.
Cons: Nothing significant that any other hotel in Vegas doesn't also suffer from.
The Bottom Line: While far from the fanciest (and priciest) hotel on the strip...it is a great choice for the budget minded who also want to feel coddled.

| rmurray847's Full Review: New York New York Hotel And Casino |
My wife and I spent two nights here on a more or less spur of the moment trip, and we had a GREAT time!! The rooms were reasonably priced, and we went ahead and splurged and got the "Jacuzzi Room." If you can swing that...you must stay in one if it is a romantic getaway. The room is bigger, and it has a small hot tub right in the main room. (And the bathroom has a regular tub and a shower...you can sure stay clean here!). So the room was a blast, but it would appear all the Jacuzzi rooms also have great locations within the hotel and GREAT views. While we didn't spend a whole lot of time in the room, we certainly enjoyed the dips in the tub (which fills very fast) and at night with a great view of the strip, it sure is pretty sweet to sit in a hot tub with a drink and look at the lights and activity.
I've heard some people say the roller coaster sounds disturb them...well, we never heard it, although it wasn't terribly close to us...several floors below.
The hotel/casino is very nice. There are a lot of "fast food" type restaurants laid out in a Greenwich village meets Disneyland area...no gambling in that area...so great for family or just to hang out and have a slice of pizza or a fun desert.
Upstairs is a HUGE arcade, which you must go through if you want to ride the roller coaster. I can't judge the arcade, but it sure looked like it had everything. The coaster is a bit pricey, but it's a decent ride, and it is fun to zip around a famous Vegas hotel.
The casino itself is attractively designed, and maybe just a smidge more tasteful than many of them. Lowest table limit is $10. Drink service was fast when I was there. There are lots of nice restaurants...all on the pricey side, of course. We ate a lovely meal at the steakhouse...very tasty. I wouldn't say the decor there is the greatest ever, though. We didn't try any other on-property restaurants.
We did go into the Irish Pub for some drinks. The pub itself was jammed full of people and we couldn't find a seat. It was also a little dirty...I think traffic was so heavy they just couldn't keep up with bussing the place. But by dumb luck, we found our ways out onto the tiny balcony. There were four tables out there, and the waitresses don't come to serve you. I got drinks from the bar, and brought them outside and we sat there for a couple of hours talking and watching the people and traffic...cuz you're looking right out on to the Strip, about three floors up. GREAT!!!
The hotel does not have a huge shopping mall like some of the others, but it does have a handful of fun little shops...certainly you could find a little gift for just about anyone here.
The other big advantage is that the hotel sits on the corner of Las Vegas & Tropicana...so you are within an easy walk of the MGM, Excalibur (and from there the tram to Luxor and Mandalay) and even the old Tropicana...which is good for gamblers because they are by far the nearest low limit table games. You have to go pretty far south on the strip to find anyplace else with $5 tables.
It's not the perfect hotel, but for a moderate priced place...it's the best I've stayed at in Vegas. The Luxor was nice too, but it's showing its age a little, the casino is no great shakes and the check-in there takes FOREVER.
If coming for a romantic, reasonably priced getaway...I'd certainly come here again. I think it would be a good spot for a family getaway too. For really high-end service, obviously the Bellagio, Caesars, Venetian, etc. would be better...but you'd pay. New York New York was a great compromise.
