| vegasgal's Full Review: New York New York Hotel And Casino |
My husband and I stayed at New York New York last year. We travel to Las Vegas twice per year and were very exited about our stay, because we had never stayed here before.
The casino layout is quite visually appealing, however, the concept of the casino is laid out with bridges that allow people enter and exit the casino. Unfortunately, these bridges become congested with people and a sort of "human gridlock" forms, making entry or exit from the casino a nightmare. This gridlock also affects getting to and from your room.
The rooms were on the small side, (which is fine - a room is just for sleeping in, right?) and the screams from the rollercoaster are quite audible until about midnight. What we did not find acceptable was that our morning room service tray would sit outside our door from 8:00 am until we went to bed each evening around midnight. We walked past that tray (as well as many, many others) each time we entered and exited our room.
Also of note: In the restaurant "America" late one evening, my husband and I decided to stop in for a late breakfast. He ordered eggs and I ordered a bagel and lox platter. When they brought my bagels and lox, the bagels were RAISIN bagels. Any New Yorker, or even someone posing as a New Yorker would know that lox NEVER goes on a raisin bagel. I was then informed that they had no bagels other than raisin. I had to completely change my order and by the time my meal arrived, my husband had long finished his. All that was extended to us for the faux pas was a genuine "sorry".
Lastly, while waiting for our car at the valet, the valet gave our car and our keys to a group of women we did not know. When we saw the women getting into our car, we ran over and had to correct the situation. (The ladies explained that the car was similar in color to theirs). Now we all know you need to be alert in Las Vegas, but you need to be especially alert at the New York New York valet stand.
We will not be staying here again as there are so many fine hotels to choose from where these kinds of aggravations have never occurred to us before.
