I am a great fan of ales, and in particular, Guiness and all Irish varieties. I've had a lot of experience drinking/tasting this sort of alcohol. And this ale is perhaps the flattest I've ever tasted. Chilling it seems to detract from its flavor, as it makes the dull nature of it's taste that much more noticeable.
I remember having this beer in college, and I think it's most suited to the college crowd. It's very available in almost any liquor store, and it's flavor does not matter so much when cost is an option in buying. But for the experienced drinker of ales, this one is not for you. There's no subtle blend of tastes or that creamy feeling you get when a really good ale goes down.
With this drink, I would recommend sandwiches and lunch. Rye bread seems to do something to bring out the flavor. Think English foods, and nothing too delicate. THe flat taste will dampen it.
