I usually don't like dark beers, but I am fond of two brands; Guinness and Newcastle Brown Ale. Its brown color makes me think that the beer will taste so much more of hops than it does, and the barley is roasted to perfection. It's full flavor of, well, half rotten, growing barley (that is what malt is) makes me want to just take a zip at a time.
If Newcastle is enjoyed with a meal, I'd rather just have something light, but yet spicy. Concentrate on the beer, not the food!
The taste is long and gives every taste bud a sensation of especially hops, and it goes well together with a lot of foods, spicy or not so, Newcastle is drinkable even alone. Served ice cold, you can drink it more like a pilsner, but slightly tempered, all its flavors and smell makes it one of the best tasting beers I've encountered in my life.
If you are willing to pay the price (about $9 for a six pack) you will get the most sold bottled beer in the UK, plus a taste you will probably love
