I was introduced to Newcastle by pure luck! I ordered it because it stood out from the other 200 beers this bar offered. The large letters were easy to read from a distance. Anyway, I haven't looked at another beer since.
I'd like to think that after 9 years in the Army, drinking beer from around the world, that I know beer. Newcastle is just smooth. Plain and simple. It goes down easy, with no bitter aftertaste.
I recommend Newcastle for those hot late afternoon days when your relaxing after a hard day at the office. Kick your shoes off, go out on the deck to that favorite lounge chair, turn on the game and chill.
To answer some of the questions above, first I don't think that this is a beer to be guzzled. It should be drank slowly and enjoyed. I think it would go with a light pasta salad, or maybe a tuna steak. It can be purchased at your finer grocery stores, and classier bars.
I've tried the draft, 12oz and 1 Pint bottles, and I have to say that I enjoy the 1 pint bottles the most.
