I'm english so this is spelt using the OED not the poxy Webster's.
Like all british beers, Newkie Broon ale is revered by legend rather than by taste. because of its ability to travel well without losing flavour it has gained poularity at the expense of other more flavoursome beers. Widely recognised by its distinctive blue star logo and long necked bottle, the true beer drinker will observe that the colour is lighter than many other beers called brown and the colour is lighter almost as bright as its sister brew, the amber ale. In the US, it is generally stuffed into a chiller cabinet which automatically destroys the true flavour of a beer. it is best served off the bottom shelf tucked away from the light at just under room temperature, and let stand after the top has been taken off to breathe almost like a wine.
There are two opinions on the best way to pour the beer from the bottle into the glass. The standard practice is to hold the glass against the lip of an upright bottle and then slowly tilt the two together so the glass is up right and the bottle is at the 45 degree angle never ever take the bottle off the glass until it has finished pouring.
Those of us whose fathers are Geordies(Newcastle born and bred) do the real thing though
1 put bottle upright on table
2 invert glass over bottle to seal the neck.
3 Invert glass and bottle in one staright swift movement .
4 taking the right hand as a claw over the bottom of the bottle start to slowly lift the bottle from the glass. at no time allowing the beer to gush by separating the top of the neck from the liquid.
If you do the in-rush will cause the beer to blow everywhere. you should be able to take about a minute to complete this and have the perfect pint.
This beer should be best drunk by people who hate English warm beers they are soft southern t*****rs who normally think that Watneys Red Barrel is good. or those Vaux double maxim drinkers from wearside.
Best with curry and chips at half eleven on a Friday night heading down the Scotswood Road or with Stottie cake spread with a hot pease puddin.
This beer is the Manchester United of beers, more people drink it than were born within foghorn distance of the Tyne, and most Man U fans have never been to Old Trafford. H'way the lads.
Next lesson is why the bottle is the thickest glass of all english beer bottles?
