Night of Bloody Horror
DVD format
Director: Joy Houck
Original release date: 1969
Give me an ol' horror classic over today's films. With Night of Bloody Horror, you are lost in the wonders of lightening, and characterization . Without the use of special effect techno, the viewer is actually caught up in the storyline itself. (except for the interesting special effect of "violent vision"....the spiral effect)
Plot (sorta):
A man, former mental patient, is accused of multiple murders that are more gruesome than the last one...and of course, they are all his former lovers. But with the spine tingling "violent vision" flashbacks, the viewer isn't really sure if he is the killer, or does he witness the murders, or is he just thinking they are being murdered. The movie isn't alway the easiest to follow. You are drawn into the main characters ordeal as those he loves die all around him and he is there (or is he) when it happens....this is why there is no real plot summary included here. This is a movie that I leave up to the viewer to conclude the inner, strange details.
Special Note
Television commercials offered $1,000 to the family's of viewers who dropped dead of fright, as well as claiming that many scenes were too violent to show on the commercials.
If you are into the weird and wonderful, then find this classic, turn off the lights and whirl down into the "violent vision" that only the late 60's could do.
