Pros: great looks, cushioning, insole, design, materials workmanship and durability
Cons: Full length air could be more protected (reaching for that one) otherwise, none
The Bottom Line: A great casual shoe or dress shoe, and actually works well as a boot, imagine that. Not much to criticize on this shoe, it does most things very well.

| rookshark's Full Review: Nike Air Max Goapath Boots |
Here is my second review of my Nike boots. Again, this pair was bought primarily for dress use, and the solid black, few seams look proves great for that purpose. Well, at least for me since I hate conventional dress shoes, especially since my occasions for dress shoes usually involved climbing some mountains too.
These boots take the full length air and take it to the extreme level visibly, showing just about everything you are getting. The cushioning is very comfortable for a boot, and I did not even need a replacement insole in these shoes. Especially since the normal paper thin insole you would normally find is not in this shoe. The insole included is thicker and more substantial, and more comfortable by far than any other stock insole I have seen short of the zoom air insole available in some basketball shoes. Although this one still has some advantages over those, since it is not quite so responsive, but more spongy and soft, in other words, comfortable. Not to mention the nice poly urethane midsole, as if all the above was not enough.
Again, waterproof leather makes its appearance. I can see traipsing through some water or come what may in these boots while maintaining that luxury, nice stylish appearance. Good grief, even the eyewear for the laces is rust proof. I doubt I stand in water that much, but oh, what a nice little conversation feature (if you like talking about shoes that is).
Reading the literature promoting this boot gives you an idea just how tough it is, and although nice and clean, ready for the rough stuff. Things like triple stitching (yep, I see three lines of stitches, hows that for detective work?) and the nice padded collar, which is padded, but not to an extraordinary amount. Nice though.
Stability and really being able to use these shoes while being comfortable is great. The midsole comes up fairly high into the shoe, providing more lateral support than I have been able to test in walking in funky situations. Good stuff. And the durability of the shoe in other areas lives up just as well. The outsole looks literally as good as new, and the leather holds up under what is sometimes hard wear. There are scuffs accumulated on the front of the shoe, but save for an ugly plastic covering the entire toe, this seems unavoidable when using these anything close to the intended purpose. Otherwise, the leather has been wearing well, with creases minimal, and looking natural. The air unit seems a bit less protected than in other shoes, but if there is a negative trade off, I have yet to find it. The minimalistic use of all materials gives a more natural feel to the boot, and although it looks like a heavy duty unit, you will not get the fatigue associated with other such big footwear. Nor do you feel as if you are on stilts or lifts. Sure, they are higher, but it seems as if you were standing in a basketball shoe, not some huge oversized boot.
And how about a pull tab for getting these babies on? Nice. Very nice. I wish this was a standard feature for all boots, especially anything with a moderately high ankle support. This boot is covering the ankle without feeling like you have combat boots on
.although the look of this boot is like some futuristic army boot in some respects (Yes, I have heard that comment more than once).
Overall, this is a great casual/dress shoe that also offers good duty as a hiker or casual mountain climber. Traction is good, and you will not find yourself sliding down anything except slick concrete. It is up to you whether or not these are worth $140. I personally would not spend that much on boots (never pay retail), and only picked them up when they got to under half of retail, about the price I could get other less luxury Nike boots that for just work/tough use would perform just as well.
