As a former college player and current goalkeeper coach, I have never put Nike on the top of my list for gloves. However, with the addition of the International and Keller gloves, I am starting to change my tune. I received a pair of these Talon Classic gloves 2 weeks ago from the club I am coaching at and use them about 3 days a week. As a goalkeeper coach, I am constantly using and reviewing gloves. Especially since we train 90%of the time, these gloves get some serious use.
The gloves consist of the typical split wrist with velcro closure and soft latex palm. Nike has put some neat red grafix on the back and the finger gussets have holes for ventilation.
Now for the good stuff. After 2 weeks of use, I haven't noticed any abrasion to the palm which is probably fair to good in grip. It's not super-softi but nice enough for a training pair. The wrist closure is not nearly as comfortable as a bandage closure, but falls right in line with the middle of the line gloves of today. The major shortfall of the gloves would have to be the back of the hand. Most glovemakers have put some latex on the back for purposes of giving positive contact while boxing the ball. Nike has put it's graphics on the back and covered the latex with an almost slick coating. Not very condusive to non-slip contact.
All in all, I would recommend the gloves for training due to their adequate grip and good durability. If you are looking for a good match glove to complement them, I would go with the Keller Talon Pro.
