Pros: Can customize it
Cons: Holes let water in, Uncomfortable, I think they are ugly, expensive
Several months ago I got a pair of Mens Training Shoes. They were a gift from a co-worker so I had no choice but to wear them for a while. How could I hurt this persons feelings for the shoes cost $120 and were special ordered off Nikes website. I soon came to hate these shoes. These shoes are the Nike Zoom Vapor Mens Training Shoes.
The Nike Zoom Vapor is made up of several kinds of material. The bottoms are rubber. The body of the shoe is made form leather, plastic, and canvas material. The bottom rubber makes up the sole of the shoe. When looking at the bottom you will notice that besides treads, that stick out about half and inch, also has holes in it. These holes are to allow your feet to get fresh air. The heel portion is much thicker that the toe section. At the heat you will see clear plastic showing the air-pockets in it. These air pockets are for comfort and assistance when running by crating a small bounce. The sole also comes to a near point in the front of the shoe.
The body, as I said before, is made up of several materials. Leather makes up the majority of the body. It starts at the top of the sole and works its way around the whole body of the shoe. Like the sole the body is full of holes allowing your foot to breath. The tongue and the inside are made of the canvas material. The plastic is found on the sides (one on each side of each shoe) of the shoe. It starts at the sole and goes about 1.5 inches high. The plastic is not actually covering the entire side. It actually has a big, oval shaped opening in it for the Nike symbol to be seen. Around the symbol is more plastic. Also, the plastic wraps around the back of the shoe. Forms the top of this plastic piece are four finger like plastic rods. At the top of these fingers are holes for the shoe lace. The best way to describe the look of these plastic fingers is imagine a rib cage on the outside of a body.
What makes this shoe so special?
I would say that two things make this shoe special. First it is said that it was designed buy Cycling champ Lance Armstrong. I think that that makes it special. The other is that if you order it online it can be custom built. Now the customization is not that detailed; pretty much you can chose the color scheme for it. The colors you get to chose form are black, white, blue, red, yellow, gray, gold, silver, and green (just to let you know: Nike decided to call the color fancy names like metallic gray. I thought I would make it easier to describe the color). Every thing, and I mean every thing, can be customized on this shoe. The treads can be a different color form the sole and the plastic, the tongue, the leather can all be different colors as well. Even the laces and the Nike symbol can have their own colors. There are many different ways you can customize this shoe. One final way is if you order the ID addition you can have you name printed on the shoe. The color choice of the name is to decide.
Can you feel the pain?
I sure can. I feel the pain after twenty minutes of wearing these shoes. It is awful. What happened was that after twenty minutes my bottom of my foot started hurting. In about an hours time I was in extreme pain and wanted to take them off. The pain wont come from sitting in them; it comes from standing and waling in them. They are the most uncomfortable things that I have ever put on my feet. You might ask: Why didnt you take them off? Good question I say. The answer is that I didnt have anything to change into so I was stuck wearing them for hours on end. The pain never got to the point where you feet go numb. Numb feet would have been nice. I tried these shoes on and off for a month. These shoes never broke in and never got comfortable.
Watch out for that, puddle?
Yes, that right, dont step in puddles, snow, or anything else that would get your shoes wet. As I stated earlier these shoes have holes in the sole of them. A few days after a snow storm I was wearing these shoes. I stepped into a pile of mushy snow. My feet sunk into the snow getting completely covered. A few minutes later I realized my feet were getting wet. The snow came through the holes and melted. Another time I accidentally stepped into a puddle and my foot got wet immediately.
I, in no way recommend this shoe. For its comfort level, or lack of a comfort level I say stay away. The ability to get your feet soaking wet, if you are not careful I say stay away. I would never pay for these and would say save your money or buy something less expensive and better. I feel bad for the one who paid for my pair. I had them too long to take have them returned. I feel that these Nike Zoom Vapors are just not worth all the grief and aggravation they cause.
Some after thoughts:
The shoe is light weigh and the plastic part of it makes it very sturdy. I was in too much pain to think about that while wearing them.
