A NIKON legend
This lens combined with the 80-200 2.8 lens can handle just about all my photo interests. It is a fast 2.8 35-70 zoom that renders amazing results.
It is a little heavy but it is built like a tank. Pro quality optics with fast auto focusing. There is no comparison to consumer grade lenses which have variable apertures & are slow & difficult to use in low light conditions.
I have enlarged many photos to 11x14 size & they are as sharp as a tack.
If quality photos are your thing this lens will not disappoint. Some say that it has a limited range but any NIKKOR lens such as the new 28-70 2.8 a/f/s lens will cost twice as much & weight a lot more & the results will not be any better.
My next lens will be the 24 2.8 NIKKOR & that should complete my kit.
Another issue that i should mention is that the lens is a push/pull rather than a two ring focus which i prefer, however the front lens element does move when focusing, the only negative .
I almost forgot to mention that it also has some close up capabilities with the macro focusing. Not a true micro but it does give you the ability to focus close if needed.
A true nikon legend .
