davef0001's Full Review: Nikon D300 Digital Camera with 18-200mm lens
This camera is a huge upgrade from the D100! The colors are better and the menus include fewer, more cognitive pre-sets. The 51 point focusing is much more reliable than the D100's.
I considered a Canon 30D v the D300, as I sold off my Nikon Lenses and decided to move to Canon. After trying both cameras, taking shots indoors and outdoors the D300 was the clear winner. The Canon is slightly faster in terms of frames per second, but the Nikon with the optional battery pack is comparable.
Besides being easier to use, better clarity, better quality at fast ISO's and better focusing, the D300's LCD monitor is remarkable! A digital camera first, but I really appreciate being able to review a shot at high quality prior to moving on.
Little things: The wireless worked with my SB 800 flash out of the box, the quality of construction is very high, and the camera boots faster than almost any digital. Weird feature, yet, I love this agility!
