Pros: Easy to Use
Many functions and capabilites
Cons: Large (but not for an SLR)
This camera is my best friend since becomming a Mommy. We purchased this camera when our first child was 4 months old, at the recommendation of a photographer/friend. I had previously been intimidated by SLR cameras, but my old point and shoot had died, and I forced myself to branch out! I am sooo happy I did.
I know that I only use a small fraction of this camera's abilities, but I get AWESOME pictures. Absolutely fantastic shots. Which I will admit, is half operator-but half camera too. If I miss a shot, it is my fault in one way or another. Even if it's because I need to replace the battery. This thing never lets me down.
Some might think that it is missing a few 'megapixels', but this camera takes better quality pictures than any of my friends' cameras with even 10 Mp. I can take a shot from across the backyard, zoom it in to a close up on the computer, and loose none of the quality. Absolutely fantastic.
This poor camera of mine has taken a beating, too. Thrown in diaper bags, beach bags, drug to the pool, thrown in the stroller basket for two years+ and still taking pictures as great as the day I bought it. Not gonna lie-it's been flung on the floor by a few toddlers (okay, maybe me too) and it keeps on going.
I am so infinitely grateful for this camera and its' lack of shutter-lag. I capture all of the goofy faces of my little ones. With our second baby, we had this camera from the start. I have more open-eye shots of my newborn than any of my friends. By auto-focusing before snapping the picture, I can shoot the picture and the flash at the same time-not giving her the chance to shut her eyes. Mean Mommy that I am, I have some great shots of early baby smiles. And her eyesight seems just fine.
The only downside I can site at all-going from my point and shoot to this-the entry level SLR does not take video. So even for random trips and excursions I have to take my video camera along as well. Now there are other Digital SLRs (at a higher price point) that also take video, they were not available at the time I purchased this camera.
So easy to use, so technically great, worth every penny!
