I had the N80 - but couldn't remember how I got the nice pics between when I shot them, and when I got them developed. Dropped a G on the D70 because my old lens were compatible. WOW! If your spouse complains - tough! Buy it - It's great - Shoot, shoot, shoot - fiddle with the buttons - figure it out. You have any number of ways to get things developed - I use Costco - e-mail the pics and pic them up the next day - Astounding quality and turnaround on the cheap.

Buy an f 2.8 dedicated lens (the most you can afford and you'll love it!), and a case that you'll throw in the car, or carry around with you, because you'll take this camera everywhere - shoot pics everywhere - and if you forget to bring it - you'll be frustrated.
Price on the D70 should come down now that the D80 and D50 are both out. I would buy a D50 in a heartbeat if you put the savings into a nicer lens, unless you're shooting pro pics.
Again, I love this. The pics have been a kick - and once I upgraded my PC to run the photo software, and DSL for internet connection - I feel like Ansel Adams!
Just buy it. I've shot 3 years of Soccer, Basketball, Wildlife, Family parties, and the Beach in San Diego, and still learn more each time as see someone else with one and stop them to ask questions.
