I am a Canadian Nikon user. I had this camera over a year, without any problem. And one day, I was on a road trip to New Jersey with my kids to visit my cousin. Everybody was happy and we wanted to take some pictures. But all of a sudden, the camera didn't work. My cousin firmly told me that there wouldnt be any problem with the camera itself, because he had a great faith in the name.

The camera powers up but the shutter doesnt work properly. When I remove the lense, I could see that the mirror is locked up. I press the shutter button, I get the "click" sound, then "err" in the display. Shutter seems to "lock" when you release the button, then if you hit the shutter button a second time it releases but doesn't take a picture. I tried a different lense, a different CF card but no help.
I returned my Nikon D70s without any lens or accessories for repair as it no longer functioned properly. The service technician told me that there was an estimate for repair. He acknowledged the fact that it was not a user mistake or error but he refused that it was a manufacturing defect.
Nikon doesn't stand behind its products and doesn't want to issue a recall to prevent side effects.
Amount Paid (US$): 750
