Pros:3D function, button layout, user interface
Cons:battery life, game selection, price
The Bottom Line: This is a great addition to the Nintendo lineup. The 3D is cool and easy to use and buttons work well. It's $249.99 though.
I recently purchased Nintendo's 3DS handheld gaming system. I had been followng the system for months awaiting it's release. Nintendo had originally announced an amazing line-up of games to be released for the system including a remake of Zelda Ocarina of Time. I rushed to the store and purchased a unit as soon as I could. At first I was thrilled! The 3D function was very new and exciting and you did not need any sort of glasses for the effect. I had a bunch of fun creating my "Mii" character and navigating the incredibly easy to use menus. The graphics are nearly on par with the Wii, which was a huge plus for a hand held system. The Street Pass feature is a really fun way for you to share game information with family and friends. It basically allows you to trade data simply by walking by someone who has a 3DS on in their pocket.
The system was very fun... for about two weeks. Since then there have been no major game releases and nothing new seems to be on the horizon. Another downside is the battery life is only about 2 and half hours with the 3D mode turned on. A major disappointment compared to my Dsi XL which will do close to 20.
Overall the system is fun and has a great deal of potential. It just needs a little time and for 249.99 its not the right investment for everyone.
