carl_lazarevic's Full Review: Nintendo GameCube White Console
We've reached a point now where the current contenders for chief consoles are soaring down in price, but still have a few years before their replacements arrive. Yet which one should you, the consumer, decide to get? That is up to you t decide, but in order to help you I've decided to review the current contenders in a way, but most will receive the same rating, because they each have their own advantages, depending on what you're looking for.
The Gamecube is my favorite, Lean-Mean and well made, plus having some of the best videogames ever made.
Space Saver?
The the same size as a stack of 10 CD cases, and that my friends is small for such a powerful console. Finding space is easy, storing it is easy, though only necessary when you are going away.5/5
Ease Of Use?
Nintendo like to try and push the boundaries when it comes to joypads, giving you maximum options for minimal hassle. This made the N64 pad a love it or hate it affair, I loved it. The Gamecube pad builds on this pad, trying to make it appeal to everyone and as a result it loses out. Buttons are easily accessible, and it fits nicely into the hand. Unfortunately it loses a point because the standard control pad feature is near impossible to access, and the start and select buttons are very difficult to reach in the heat of gameplay. 4/5
Power?
An excellent quality of power. The Gamecube is another 128 bit console, and comes in slightly more powerful than the PS2, with amazing graphics and near photo realism on metallic objects. 5/5
Variety?
There's not that many games available for the Gamecube, but like the N64 what you have has a much higher ratio of quality compared to other consoles. Besides you'll never get through all those games, including the likes of Zelda and Mario in the next few years. 5/5
Price?
$99.99 / £74.99 brand new or used, erm $99.99 (LOL, Americans get a new one) / £51.49 makes it the cheapest Next Gen console. Games are still $70 / £40 though, which again makes it an expensive hobby. However buying older Gamecube games will be around $26 / £15, which is relatively cheap. 5/5
Overall?
The Gamecube is the caviare of gaming, except cheaper, and wont taste of raw fish eggs, sorry what was my point? Ah yes, it's the best. The best games, coming on cute little disks, and amazing variety, from Mario for the kids to Zelda for the Teens and Resident Evil for the adults. Highest recommendation.
This has been my entry into the Lean-N-Mean write-off.
