Nice chunk of reviewage here.
I think I enjoyed your commentary more than anything else. Many of my friends have a cube, but more often than not it tends to take a backseat to the PS2. It's my opinion that the only thing that's really driving sales for the cube at all anymore is the quality of their exclusive games. Zelda, Metroid, and anything 'Mario' brand seem to be common staple games in every cuber's collection.
X-Box, I thought would flop when it was introduced. As a proud Sony advocate, I have to admit that I'm slightly intimidated with the X-Box's great success. I'd hate to see Squeenix pull an 'Act II' and switch to Microsoft.
'Act I', of course, being their evacuation from Nintendo's stall.
Anyway, good review. I enjoy video game banter every now and then.

End of Nintendo's challenge? (Reply to this comment)
by tristanabbott
I think Nintendo were surprised at the X-Box being so successful and didn't push the Gamecube as hard as they could assuming they'd automatically be the second choice to the PS2.
I don't think too many new buyers would choose the Gamecube now as the X-Box live thing seems popular and the machine appears to have more longevity to it.
It would be a shame to see Nintendo go the same way as SEGA in the console market. I think as long as they concentrate on their handheld products though, they'll always be a place for Nintendo.

If they can't secure 3rd party developers, then they will lose the handheld market too. Remember up until the Playstation era, the console market was Nintendo's to lose.

I just got a GameCube for Christmas actually. I already own a PS2 and had a tough choice between the 'Cube and the X-Box. But because of my guilty enjoyment of the Mario/Zelda games and the fact that I can just play/borrow my friend's X-Box whenever I want, I went with the GameCube. I'll write a review for it sometime in the future.

You do know you have two paragraphs that are exactly the same, the Hardware one. Other then that, nice review!

Good catch! Thanks! Actually those two paragraphs weren't "exactly" the same. What happened was I put the entire review in my word processor and edited those 4 sections while pasting the revised vs PS2 and vs Xbox sections in from another document. However, I must have pasted the previous 4 sections in twice and edited only one when I transferred it from the spellchecker. Every so often this happens and being this was my 3rd and final revision I rushed to get it done a little quicker than I should have. Whoops. Well, at least someone caught it. Thanks!
