We purchased a Wii two years ago when all the hype was going on. My daughter just had to have it. Thinking that it was going to be a great entertainment system for the entire family, we got it for her for Christmas. To our disappointment, the excitement of it wore off way too fast. The Game Cube and Play Station get way more use than our Wii. Even friends who come over get bored easily with it after a few uses and we have a variety of games for it. We even leant it out to a friend of ours for his kids to try before he purchase it for them. He watched as his children reverted back to their other game systems even with the Wii present in their house. The games available are great and offer some fun entertainment for a while, but in all honesty, the other cheaper game systems on the market offer the same type of games and at lower prices. One of the up sides to the Wii is the wireless interaction, however, if you're not careful, the remote can go flying from your hand. Another up side is the Wii Fit. The entire family enjoys watching our progress on it and also enjoys the variety of activity for it. If your children are couch potatoes, this will get them up an active while hearing no complaints because it's a game.
