Pros: Great for sore breast or trouble with a latch.
Cons: have to be cleaned often, dont always stay put, hard to be discreet
Let's see, when I was pregnant I knew I wanted to breast feed but after having a very bad delivery and not seeing my son for almost 3 days after birth, and the fact that I have inverted nipples, The LC suggested I try a nipple shield.
Well... They worked wonders!! I never had to go thru the feeling of sore nipples, my son very easily switched to a bottle and I could breastfeed.
The only down side to them is 1. you really arent supposed to use them for long term use, but can if need to and 2. If you do use them, esp. when out in public, they tend to be a pain to discreetly put on. But hey, nursing isn't very discreet either =)
